⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Austin sets the standard for what a modern burger experience should be. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and comfortable — a space that reflects Austin’s unique energy while still offering the kind of warmth that makes you feel at ease whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular. The interior design is modern yet approachable, with plenty of seating options that make it suitable for solo diners, groups of friends, or families looking for a casual but elevated meal.
The menu is crafted with care and immediately sets itself apart from the average burger restaurant. At its core, Hopdoddy is about delivering quality. Every burger feels intentional — the combinations aren’t just gimmicky or overloaded with toppings, but rather thoughtfully built to bring out the best in each ingredient. The patties themselves are outstanding: juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked precisely to order. The buns, often an afterthought in other establishments, are perfectly baked and sturdy enough to support each bite without being too dense. It’s a detail that reflects the kitchen’s commitment to balance and consistency.
I opted for the [insert specific burger if you’d like personalization], and it was clear from the first bite why Hopdoddy has earned such a reputation. The flavors were bold yet harmonious, with each element — from fresh vegetables to carefully chosen cheeses — enhancing the patty rather than overwhelming it. This is what elevates Hopdoddy from a simple burger bar to a destination in its own right.
The sides are equally impressive. The fries are particularly memorable — golden, crispy, and addictive, with just the right amount of seasoning. They arrive piping hot and hold their texture throughout the meal, which speaks to both the quality of the potato and the preparation. Pairing them with one of the house-made dipping sauces, especially the truffle aioli, turns them into a standout dish on their own. These are not just “sides” but essential parts of the experience.
On the beverage side, Hopdoddy continues to impress with its bar program. The craft beer list highlights local selections, making it a great spot for anyone wanting to pair their meal with an authentic taste of Austin’s brewing scene. Their cocktails are well thought-out and provide a refreshing alternative for those wanting something beyond the usual. The milkshakes, while enjoyable, did not quite reach the same exceptional standard set by the burgers and fries. They were good, but less remarkable — more of a sweet finish than a centerpiece of the experience.
Service was consistently strong throughout the visit. Despite the busy pace of the restaurant, the staff maintained professionalism, efficiency, and genuine friendliness. Orders were delivered accurately and promptly, and staff members checked in just enough to ensure everything was satisfactory without being intrusive. That level of attentiveness demonstrates not only good training but also a culture of hospitality that enhances the overall dining experience.
Hopdoddy is also worth praising for its versatility. It is equally fitting for a casual lunch, an evening out with friends, or even a family meal. The environment feels inclusive and accommodating, with a menu that offers enough variety to satisfy different preferences without straying from its core strength — incredible burgers. The balance of quality, creativity, and consistency is rare, and Hopdoddy achieves it with ease.
In summary, Hopdoddy Burger Bar more than earns its five-star rating. The food is excellent, the service is reliable, and the atmosphere captures the best of Austin dining: casual, modern, and distinctly welcoming. While the shakes were simply “okay,” this does not diminish the overall experience, which remains exceptional from start to finish. For anyone searching for one of the best burgers in Austin — or anywhere, for that matter — Hopdoddy is a destination that delivers not only on flavor but on the complete...
Read moreI haven't been to a hopdoddys in years. All I could remember were their amazing truffle fries and making sure you ordered them...separately because nothing comes with their $14 small burger. We were excited to try a new burger that was being promoted. She let us know they could make it but it would be missing pretty much everything because they were out?.. so instead of the order taker letting us know....oh just so you are aware we are also out of this and this....I went back to the menu to read again. Mind you, I haven't been in years. So I wanted to read the menu. Because they make you order first THEN sit. It should be the other way around. Sit, scan a QR code then send one person up to order for the whole table. Much easier! Anyway, thankfully no one was in line. So I took my awkward time to pick out a new selection. Then she says they out of that too. I'm like. Okay.....and then pick something else. Then I say, oh and the truffle fries! "Oh we are out of those too" what!?!?! So I canceled my order. Call it sad but that was literally the only reason we chose to drive all the way over to San marcos. At this point we were stuck with nachos fries I had ordered and paid for because they don't have an option on their screen to "send now" and keep the ticket open. So I had to pay just to get an appetizer going. Then....it got worse. The "server" dropped off the bowl fast and ran away. Basically dropped it and ran.. and brought only 1 silverware. Clearly there are 2 people here. Barely anyone was there at the restaurant...they knew it was 2 people because we could see the staff and cooks all cackling with one other after I said cancel our burger order. The nacho fries had I swear a pound of spicy seasoning on them. Probably to make us uncomfortable and get back at us. Well your plan failed staff people we love spicy stuff. Anyway, I had to get another plastic silverware myself which I don't mind doing a little leg work....I worked in the service industry for 16 years and managed restaurants.... but all the while I'm still wondering....why in the world did your screen ask me 5 questions AND ask me to tip. Tip?! The order taker should have made us aware of other things that were out after the first time I tried to order something, or at least after the 2nd. But 3 times? Then drop the bowl with 1 silverware and douse our fries in a pound of spices. Needless to say there are hundreds of restaurants in Austin, Kyle, San Marcos and other surrounding areas who all sell burgers and we will not be attending another hopdoddys. Your $14 burger with no fries and a very small burger patty just is not worth it to us. Fix your steps....let people sit first then order. Gives them time to take in the atmosphere and not feel rushed to order. Let a guest know after the first time you request something is out...that other things are out too. Obviously don't promote negativity but after the first time.... educate your guest on other delicious items you carry while letting them know what other things are out of stock too. When I announced multiple times I had not been there in forever....then now is your time to shine for that tip and sell me on other items you carry. But the main reason we were so frustrated was because instead of an apology from anyone.... we got nachos fries flung on our table and no Manager visit. I'm not asking for a discount because we were going to pay and order regardless. But at least come over, apologize and ask us to come back when things get settled down with stock issues. But we got nothing but snickering employees and pointing at us. Thankfully whatever they did to our fries....we haven't gotten sick. Thats a win. But take care hopdoddys you only lost 2 customers today... but more will come if you don't fix a few issues.
Tried it again at the bar. $80. 2 beers, 2 burgers, 2 fries. Fries were old and re-fried and the steak sauce burger is nasty. We're done. Again no Manager anywhere while employees were outside smoking and on their phones. Used to be...
Read moreI felt like I was ordered to sit! The unsmiling woman I met at the counter where I had to place my order told me where to go sit and I felt like she was demanding it no smile no jokes no happiness ,nothing. I asked her a question about my iced tea I had ordered and she explained it to me like I was a special , short bus individual..., And again demanded I'd go sit at numbers such and such. It was a special day for me, first time out of the house fully vaccinated and what a mistake. After an overly long amount of time the waitress brought my food ,set it down in front of me ,and left! not a smile, a word, a query ,nothing. I was waiting for some kind of acknowledgment but there is nothing.. when I paid at the beginning for my meal, I included a 10% tip figuring I could use some cash dollars to add to the tip should she deserve it. I wanted to find out how I could get my 10% back! The food was awful. you know how they draw those lines on cartoon characters like The Simpsons to mean wrinkles . . .that's what my cold fries reminded me of! And that's pretty bad because they are the the little fries, McDonald's fries... So let down , so disappointed. I really had great expectations after so long and spend my money I couldn't believe 13 and something for that...
