This place is clean, so two stars.
Nobody working there was wearing a mask. I get it-- "covid is over" and everyone under 40 thinks they're immune. But I was wearing my mask, because I have a cold and turns out they are great for that. And I felt self conscious as the super hip kids behind the counter's faces read "ugh, hello covid is over"
Oh well...
I ordered a decaf Americano with 1/2 and 1/2. Why do I drink decaf? After years of being a barista myself, I developed a sensitivity to caffeine... but I still love coffee. That's why.
Anyway, I knew there might be a problem when the counter clerk couldn't correctly repeat what I had ordered back to me. An iced americano? No, a decaf. An americano with cream? Ayayay... the masks really do not help people with hearing impairments nor people with the mumbles (myself)
So I waited. The people in front of me had already gotten their drinks and then the person behind me received his. So when the next order was a 12 oz americano with cream, I looked around and came to get it because all evidence would suggest it was mine.
I asked the Barista if it was Decaf and she snapped back "this is a regular americano with cream" never considering that she made the wrong order. I looked around again. Nobody was waiting for a drink, and honestly I know from experience that a 12oz decaf americano with 1/2 n 1/2 isn't THAT common of an order.
So I waited maybe half a minute and I just left. I just couldn't stand being in such an unwelcome space anymore.
I get that baristas are pretty much legal otc pharmacists and aren't always the kindest bunch. They don't need to be as long as they make your drink correctly. That's the caveat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt ever write reviews.. but I felt this was necessary. This was my first time here (itās right next to my apartment and I had never heard of it). I walked in and immediately asked the barista for a suggestion that didnāt contain dairy. He said I could get soy, almond, or oat milk. I asked for oat milk. He told me he highly suggested the 1/2 which is half moon milk and half milk. I asked if the moon milk was ok for me and he said āyes youāre getting the oat milkā so I assumed the moon milk just meant flavors or sugar or something along those lines. I finished the coffee and am completely nauseous and sick to my stomach.. after some googling, moon milk contains whole milk and whipping cream.. How can you allow a barista to not understand what dairy is. If itās because they never told the employees what is in it, that is completely unprofessional. I donāt care if the moon milk recipe is sacred.. customers have to know what they are putting in their bodies especially when an allergy is mentioned. I am so upset and now stuck at home...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Summer Moon but they have recently changed their pastry selection and the quality is not nearly the same as before. Specifically the chocolate croissant and the plain croissant. I understand wanting to try something new, but this is a downgrade. The original croissant used to be rolled up like a cinnamon roll and the best part was getting to the soft center. Now it's just a plain croissant you could purchase in the grocery store. The chocolate croissant used to be my husband's favorite - the chocolate would gush out on the first bite. On this most recent visit it was flat and barely had any chocolate. The lattes and atmosphere are great...but we have a few other places we can go (Lampost and The Fairview). We choose Summer Moon because of the pastries. Now...nothing to separate it from the others. Hoping this feedback helps bring back...
