Great place! Was looking for a new ramen place in San Marcos since we like to try new places and came across this one. Reviews were good so I thought it was worth trying and glad we did. Ordered the kids chicken tenders & fries (batter in the nuggets was slightly undercooked but I have also noticed that with McDonalds as well so idk if that’s normal). Ordered the poke bowl with chicken & spicy mayo which was really good and had a great flavor! The bowl was huge and I felt like it could’ve served 3 people comfortably HUGE PORTIONS in a good way. Ordered the spicy miso which was also good; we wanted to order a spicy tonkatsu but that was not an option on the menu, I’m sure if we asked it might have been one or maybe they could’ve made it? I’m not sure Overall, this place is really good and we will definitely be back!

Have ordered here twice, once for pickup, the other in store. The pickup order was set for my lunch break, but I immediately got notification that my order was ready when I placed it and when I called in was told they missed the order ready time. I tried again in store to give them another chance as I love poke and ramen. Having tried both (as well as most of their apps) I can say this place was rather underwhelming. The fried sides tasted oily and the takoyaki was undercooked. The poke was passable, but for the price I expect a bit better especially with the other shops in town. The ramen was the best thing I tried and the portion size was fantastic and good topping variety, although I did find the broth rather salty until I mixed in some other sauces they had available.

I have come here twice now for my 3pm lunch break and have enjoyed it. Very nice, peaceful atmosphere and excellent service. The poke bowl was huge (poke had great taste, there was a lot of rice though, and I would like to see it with a greater toppings to rice ratio). I really loved the bento box with fried rice and miso soup! I also like the strawberry boba tea. I’m looking forward to trying the ramen and the appetizers!

My wife & I have both tried the Ramen as well as the Poke and they are excellent.

The things we see that make Kikko special are: The focus, it's clear from the kitchen & service that they want nail accuracy & consistency. The dishes ingredients are well composed, diced, & cook.

We eat with eyes & nose first, this really comes through in how Kikko works to present their food.

The flavors then build on this presentation/delivery of food, as we can taste the ingredients/seasonings listed in each menu items description or the staffs explanation of the dishes.

+The atmosphere,

The location is in a bit on odd spot-( that whole section is unique with how the roads & new buildings have come about)

But the way they have worked to fit out the space, the tables, booths & the Japanese decor makes the place feel organized, warm, & welcoming.

+The Service,

Grant it we have only been there 3 times, but the amount of time.it has taken to receive our dishes is efficient & on pace with Restaurant standards of expediting.

Every time we order or are brought something out servers ensure/always ask if we require anything else.

+The Hustle, if you have or have not worked in the Restaurant industry, then you know that the work, margins, & creativity can take a lot out of a Chef/Manger.

Everything listed above & everything we have seen from the Kikko staff show us as foodies, that they are working hard to put forward great dishes, and offer excellent Japanese cuisine, in our humble little town of San Marcos, TX

Keep up the...

Hands down the best ramen in San Marcos, and one of my favorite restaurants in the city as well. Staff is some of the kindest you'll get anywhere downtown. They remember you by the second time you visit, and honestly, I feel like family there.

Food is really, REALLY good. The crab puffs are perfectly sweet and savory, the ramen is always delicious, with the perfect ratio of meat, broth, veggies, and noodles. Their miso soup is some of the best and most flavorful I've had, and the presentation is always really stunning.

And don't get me started about their boba. Best tasting stuff IN THE STATE- I've had probably two dozen different places' boba, and a dozen home-made kits, and nothing compares. The prices on everything are super reasonable, and the portion sizes are perfect, especially for someone with a big appetite like me and my girlfriend.

The atmosphere is also genuinely really comfy. Almost like a blend of a more "hip" shop like Teapioca, a food stand on the side of a road in Japan, and the typical "chinese restaurant your family's gone to for thirty years," the only thing I dislike is how this place isn't more filled with customers!!!

Genuinely such a great place to go. This is way, way up there in my list of places I recommend to people I know.

Since they're not listed-

Our fave spot in San Marcos for ramen. We've been let down by other Asian restaurants in the area and had the craving for ramen so we said, why not?

We ordered: Tonkatsu Ramen Gyoza - pan fried Takoyaki Pork Katsu

The wife and I tried everything that was ordered and I have to say that ramen was fantastic. Broth was everything I was looking for, noodles were firm and tasty. The gyoza was also cooked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed them from beginning to end. The takoyaki was a bit too oily and could have used a minute or two to drain since they arrived too hot to eat. The pork Katsu came with a side salad and miso soup. Really enjoyed the soup and the salad was a standard basic salad with citrus dressing. The pork was sliced thin and breaded which tasted good but I prefer a thicker cut. The bulldog sauce they used was super tasty and made me wonder if they made it in house. The stir fry veggies that came with the dish were an easy 5/5. We actually saw the flame going off in the kitchen and were like wonder what they are cooking.

The temp was a little warm inside however the food was so good it was easily acceptable.

Service was excellent. Huge plus for when I asked about menu items and we were given honest suggestions.

Don't let the shipping center fool you. This place is worth going to. We will absolutely be...
