Let me preface, this review is directed entirely at the owner. Not at the food, or other staff.
I've been going to Clay's for 4 years since I moved here, and have recommended others to come as well. Tonight, I called and spoke with a lady over the phone to place a pick-up order. She told me it would be an hour, and I said that would be fine. After discussing that with the other's in my group, we decided to get food somewhere else. I called back, less than 3 minutes after I got done speaking initially, and this is when I spoke to a man (Restaurant Owner) and told him I'd like to cancel that order before they waste any food. He asked how long the lady I originally spoke to said it would be, and then told me, that's wrong, it won't take more than 30 minutes.
At this point, I was a little concerned, but opted to trust him. I then show up, 30 minutes later, and speak to the owner, telling him my name. He goes to the kitchen to "check on it" and I do not see him again. I stand there for 20 minutes until the lady (original ones I spoke to) brings me my food. She says "should be free for how long you waited" and I told her what happened when I spoke with him. She told me, unfortunately, he's the owner and does that sometimes. A blatant lie to prevent people from cancelling their order and him losing out on business.
I get home after a 15 minute drive, to realize I'm missing a side of food. I call back, and the owner picks up. I tell him I do not want to come back tonight, and ask for a refund and give him the information on the order. He tells me their system does not allow refunds, but I can come back in. At this point, after the initial lie, I do not believe him, and it seems he's just out to protect his bottom dollar. I told him about him lying to me about the time, and he simply says, "if you'd like to come pick up your fries, you can".
Unfortunately, like I said, I've had nothing but good experiences, better food, and great things to say about this place to my friends for 4 years, but after this occurrence with the owner of the business, I can't continue to...
Read moreI had Heard these were like the best wings in Atlanta from some people and I love wings and so I was over here today and I realized that Clay's was right there and so I decided to try them for the first time.. I am not joking when I say these are the best wings I've ever had!! They are phenomenal! They're big, for one thing , but not too big. Sometimes a wing can get too big. You can tell the sauces are homemade. I had the hot teriyaki And I loved him because sometimes teriyaki can be a little too sweet and these were like the perfect amount of sweetness the perfect amount of hot! God, they were good. I told myself I was just going to have one or two because I had to drive home you know and I ended up sitting there eating them all in the car It could have just eat them inside lol anyway the people that worked inside were really nice, I like the atmosphere and the gentleman that checked me out was charming and probably puts people at ease. I even tipped him a little more because he so nice. I live in Roswell but I would definitely be making this the trip over here It's not even a question if I'll be coming back! Run over there to get wings, I'm serious! You will be happy. One last thing, thing I like, is that some places will charge you for celery and carrots, which I think is ridiculous with wings, I mean, wings seem to come with those veggies. However, recently, I've kind of noticed that sometimes when I get wings, it's no longer included on the house. Anyway, oh, and the dressings were really good too. I love the blue cheese, It's the perfect amount of tanginess. I am a happy lady after this meal! Thank you Clay's for doing such a...
Read moreBest wings in Atlanta, possibly the world! Clay's has been our spot to get take out from for big sports events (super bowl, fantasy football draft, etc.) but my wife and I finally had a chance to dine in lunch and I can't believe we waited this long to do it... The place was packed (12:30 on a Friday) but the service was outstanding and we were able to place our order while we waited for a table to open up. Luckily it wasn't more than 10 minutes and we were seated at a booth and having always taken out I never full appreciated the atmosphere that Clay's has. It's a dive, don't get me wrong but in the beat of ways... Food and service were great, drinks cold and everyone was having a good time.
I ordered the Buffalo platter, ten wings with cajun fries (can't pass those up!) half hot Honey BBQ and the other half hot Honey mustard. The wife got ten wings with my third favorite flavor, hot lemon pepper, on them and we had our food within ten minutes. My wings were slightly cool and I kindly asked our waiter if they'd reheat them and he went above and beyond and had the kitchen make a whole new batch of both wings and fries!
I can't speak highly enough about how amazing these wings are and if you haven't had them get to Clay's as soon as humanely possible as they're literally out of this world good! So we couldn't be happier with out experience and will certainly make Clay's more of a mainstay when looking for a place with great food, people...
