Check my reviews. Hate writing bad ones. But this place does not deserve the one star I was forced to give it!

I had foreign out of town guests who wanted to experience some of the southern cuisine. A friend recommended this place. So it was a first time for me and my guests.
We planned to pick up our dinners and then attend a park festivital and eat meals there. I spent minimum of $45.00. Well, we get to the park and none of the meals are correct! I immediately called the store. Could not get through. No would answer and when someone did they immediately hung up. So I called the Gus location in Kennesaw. A manager named Brandon was very helpful. No runaround. He said that he knew the general manager at the Sandy Springs location and he, Brandon, would get back to me. Brandon did get back to me. Told me that the GM, Jamal, from Sandy Springs would call me. He called that evening but said that he had checked the with the restaurant and that I had picked up the corrected meals. Um, NO! We were no where near Sandy Springs which was the reason for the call to begin with.... After clearing up the confusion, the GM, Jamil , says that he would mail me a gift card for my $45.00. Ok ,so everything's good right??
WRONG!! I never received the card!! So I texted him and told him the card was never received. When I didn't receive a response, I called and spoke directly to him. He said I'm here at the restaurant now come in and get the food. I said that I could not that day. He says well when you are in the area come in and he will make sure that I get the food.
So today, I am in Sandy Springs and I send Jamil, GM,a text to ask if he is in the restaurant. When there was no response from him , I called the restaurant. The person who answered was ready to take my order and when I explained the situation he said he needed to check with the GM. And that is fair, I had no problem with that. So he calls the GM and the GM says that I had already picked up the food!! I like to know when that was because I have been no where near that restaurant. I live 35 minutes away!
And this is the 2nd time they claim I picked up the food. Interesting since I spoke directly to the Jamil.
I have gotten nothing but the run around from this location and this GM! NO gift card, NO food!
Basically! I was embarrassed by not providing the meal my out of town guests wanted. And NO they did not eat it! Secondly, I spent 45.00 plus ( i paid for desserts and extra sides that my guests were able to eat. I already subtracted that amount and was NOT expecting to be reimbursed for what we ordered and ate!!).
I will NOT ever come here or recommend anyone come to this location!!! If you are near Kennesaw go there at least their GM / manager did what he promised.
Listen folks, I eat out ALOT and customer service is key! The lack of customer service I experienced here by the general manager...
Read more1st of all let me just say, the Chicken is BANGING, it's 5+ stars ALL DAY (and the sides are good as well)!!! Crispy, juicy chicken with a satisfying crunch and spice, the beans had plenty of little smokey meaty bits, the coleslaw was creamy and cold with a nice balance to the spice of the chicken and richness of the beans, and the fried okra I ordered was so crunchy and perfect I thought I was at my great-grandmas table again, circa 1984! The staff are friendly and I will be going again!!! However, next time? I will be opening my take out bag and going through my entire order before walking out, because everything was wrong when I arrived home and tried to feed my family. The 2 piece meal I ordered was missing my sides, and my half-chicken meal was missing the thigh. Not the biggest deal in the world, considering how damned good the food was, but I had to hustle up some stuff at home to feed 3 people... thankfully I had ordered the extra okra, and 2 slices of pie, so everyone got something to eat. I was wrong for not checking before I left, which I normally do, and there was no way I was driving back to Sandy Springs in the rain to pick up what was missing. Some days, it's just not worth the hassle.
Having said my complaints, I will definitely be coming back here again because as I stated earlier, this is THE BEST chicken I have had in a long time, and the staff are so friendly and I witnessed how hard they are working to provide good service and good food. I just hope everything is in the...
Read moreI never write reviews but thought it was important that I share this one b/c the quality of service and food has dramatically suffered. I have been to this location 10 to 15 times over the years. First visit was great. Food was hot, and seasoned throughout. From there it has dramatically declined. 1. they say they drop the food hot but never do. I have gone several times and left only to have semi warm chicken. This really dries it out over time. 2. The customer service is horrible. sagging pants seeing underwear, inappropriate language. 3. because of issue with number 1, I decided to give one more try today.(3/29/22) I called in order and specifically requested for them to drop the chicken fresh. The lady without a question agreed and told me it would take 20 min. I get there 4 min later and my food is sitting on a shelf, in small bags so the food didn't go all the way in the bag and the meat was not hot nor warm. The bread had started to form a crust on it b/c it was obviously left to the open air. ONce again cold chicken. When you are paying a premium for the chicken with an advertised "drop to order", its just get 2 stars when the food comes out cold and customer requests are not made.
