I moved from Utah 15 years ago. I returned last week, for 1 week, to taste all of my SLC favorites (including Crown Burger).
I'll tell you what, CROWN BURGER DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I went to 4-5 places that are unique to SLC. All of my childhood favorites were not as good as I had hoped. But not Crown Burger. It was perfect!
We got there around 12:30, and the line was out the door, literally. I thought, 'this is going to take forever!' However, the line moved swiftly! We reached the counter, made our order and went to fill up our drinks. Before I had a chance to sit, our burgers and fries were ready!
The delicious, succulent combination of tender pastrami, cheese and char-grilled burger on a sesame seed bun with shredded lettuce and Crown's own special 'fry' sauce (minus onions for me) made for the perfect burger! I always add yellow mustard to my Crown burger (it just goes well with pastrami). SO dad-gum good!
Also, the fries are perfect: Crunchy, salty exterior, and pillowy-soft on the inside! Give them a dunk into the surprisingly delicious 'fry' sauce (a mixture of ketchup, mayo, pickles and spices), and you get a combination of textures and flavors dancing on your tongue that you cannot pass up!
The service was fast and friendly. The dining area was vast and clean with plenty of seating, despite how busy they were. The food was amazing! (I went back the next day for another burger!)
You won't be disappointed! Go there now, and thank your lucky stars that you have this close by if you live in Utah! There is nothing like it in Houston, TX that I have...
Read moreThis place is awesome (minus one grievance which I mention at the end)! A little expensive, but very good food. Look at how beautiful these cheese fries are! Real shredded cheese melted on there; not cheap nacho cheese. Their burgers are great, as well as the fries, onion rings, and many other things. And the facility was very nice; the bathroom was clean (and even more impressive, it smelled nice). The only reason I'm docking 1 star is because they use an intercom system to call out people's order numbers, and it is very loud and annoying. When the place is busy, they literally call out order numbers through the intercom system every 10-15 seconds and it is so irritating. It's so loud that no one in any part of the restaurant can have a conversation while they are doing that. I feel like it would be much better to have a digital sign hung on the ceiling somewhere that displayed the numbers of the orders that are ready. That would be something people could look at to know if their order is ready instead of having to endure the barrage of annoying announcements every 10-15 seconds. The sign could even have a soft chime or ring each time an order is ready. That would be much better than their...
Read moreI've been eating at Crown Burger since they opened. A Crown Burger Special was about $6.95 expensive but worth it. They are $14.92 now, still expensive, but still worth it. Today I ate at the Crown Burger in Sandy 9604 South State Street. The burger was delicious as usual. The problem is, a customer came in with a wet dog (it was snowing pretty hard). As the person and the dog passed my table I could smell the wet dog, not appetizing at all, in fact gross! This was NOT a service dog, it was someone's pet. I just googled 20 most popular service dogs, nowhere is a Husky listed. Husky's are good sled dogs. This person and their stinky pet Husky is abusing the system trying to pass their dog off as a service dog. I don't think dogs or any other animals belong in a restaurant - unless it actually is a service animal. I will continue to eat at Crown Burger because it is the best burger in town. Hopefully there won't be a stinky dog in the place. By the way, I love dogs, I've had three Shepherds, two Dachshunds, and several mutts. Note: Best...
