Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Sandy

STAY AWAY!!! Could not hear the server(Amie P) well from behind the glass with the loud, explicit, offensive music being played. Ordered 3 smoothies, server gave us 2 smoothies and walked away and left us waiting….. I Checked my receipt and it said 2 smoothies and a bowl (that she didn’t appear to be making and that I hadn’t ordered). When questioned, she said we only ordered 2 smoothies. She checked the register, and said we ordered 2 smoothies and a bowl (which she didn’t seem to remember!). She made the third smoothie, but when asked about the difference in cost ($2), she said she didn’t know how to do that and got defensive. She said they were basically the same cost, and if it was that big a deal she could make us another smoothie. I didn’t need another smoothie, at this point it was more of a principle and I wanted my refund and maybe an I’m sorry. She was rude and condescending throughout the entire interaction. There was no one else in the store (I’ve begun to understand why!) and she just went about her business behind the glass and ignored us! Basically, this location stole from me, treated me very poorly and the music choice was very questionable. I will go out of my way to avoid this establishment in the future and recommend those I care about to avoid it as well. Management should consider letting this employee find employment somewhere else where they don’t have to interact with other...

I waited over 20 mins for 1 smoothie and ended up driving away because how awful the staff was. They gave snappy responses when I asked if they could sub strawberry for the peanut butter. Then when I got to the window all the employees were standing together gossiping while the drive through window was open how they don't care and will make them wait and started laughing/joking how long they would make everyone wait. I've been to this specific location a couple times and the staff is usually a bit snappy and display attitude, but nothing like this. Seems like there is a lack of management and they just do whatever they wanted. Plus I saw a girl scratching her head and then didn't wash her hands and put some remaining meat back into the make table afterwards. At that point I drove off. I love tropical smoothie but will be going to the other location in sandy that has amazing staff and never had an issue in the years I've been going to that one.

I recently went to Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Sandy and had a disappointing experience. We pulled into the drive-thru about an hour before closing and were met with someone yelling that the system was down and we’d need to come inside. No big deal—we went in. But once inside, the employee seemed super grumpy, like we were bothering her just by being there. I’ve worked in food service, so I get that people coming in close to closing time can be frustrating—but we still had a full hour before they closed. We ordered three smoothies to go, and it took about 10–15 minutes to get them. When we finally did, they were so bland. All I could taste was ice. Every single one tasted like that!
