Maria was a great help to me. Very friendly. When I told her I was not familiar with Nepalese food, she let me sample some of the sauces, protein, and bases. I chose the veggie rice base with mixed grilled veggies and tofu in a coconut sauce. I loved that they had the option of adding fresh veggies on top (cabbage, cilantro, cucumbers, carrots). It was a big portion. I really liked it.
I also got some piro aloo on the side. It was basically perfectly baked/air fried seasoned potato wedges. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. I did ask for some sauces to dip them in. I dipped them in the coconut sauce that I liked so well.
Also tried the chicken momo. The very kind owner told us how to spoon open the momo and pour sauce inside to eat it. I thought the flavor was so vibrant. The texture was soft and a little spongy, which some might not love. (But I did) The Kothey momo is pan fried so maybe they would want to try that version.
I think they should offer the grilled vegetables as a base, for those watching their carbs. Otherwise, there was a nice variety of vegan and gluten free options. The service was so friendly. The environment was clean and I liked the music. Highly highly recommend. Please come to Spanish Fork so I can visit...
Read moreThe staff was caring and informative. They allowed us to sample the broths to make sure it wasn’t too spicy for my mother and shared how they personally enjoy the food.
We ordered a curry bowl, chicken momo, and garlic naan. The coconut curry wasn’t overly sweet and grilled chicken was juicy. It also came with all the fresh veggies you want on top and I was surprised that I enjoyed the contrast of texture. The “raita”-like cucumber yogurt salad was refreshing after bites of curry. If you’ve never had momos, these things are like a bowl of curry, ramen, and potstickers had a baby. The momos were all juicy. The broth it came in was a nice balance of savory/acidic. A bit more on the acidic end. I think that’s why the flavor of the broth sticks around after each sip making me crave more. If you like spice, theres some chili paste on each table, get a bit of that to dab your momos in. It’s delicious. The naan wasn’t as salty and buttery as other naans I’ve had. It’s pillowy, soft, and slightly sweet. Good bread. Different naan. I want to eat a dessert version...
Read moreWith so many great places to eat in Sandy, this is our very favorite place for momos. If you aren't familiar with momos, they are just a Himalayan variation on pot stickers, gyoza, steamed dumplings, and they are a delight. The chicken momos (my personal favorite) here at Zimbu are served in a sort of soupy chili based sauce when ordered to dine in (the soupy sauce is on the side when ordered to go) that is just a delight, and they have a spicy chili paste at the table to add for more kick, which is how I was introduced to momos as a roadside snack on the winding road to Darjeeling. The Chili momos are served in a bed of mixed chopped peppers, and they have a third variety of momos we haven't tried yet because we just love the chicken momos so much.
Be forewarned that the momos take a good 12-15 minutes to prepare, so either call in your order beforehand, or be prepared to wait. All I can say is that the wait is...
