Having tried other ramen places in the greater Orlando area, including some that tend to be regarded among the “best in Orlando,” I happily will pick a bowl of ramen from Yugiri Ramen Project above the others, any time. I’ve tried dine-in and to go, busy hours and off-times, different ramen types, and the karaage, and everything has always been delicious.
The rich pork bone broth, thick chashu (pork) slices, ajitama (boiled egg), and chewy noodles are perfectly cooked and flavorful, each contributing unique flavor while also coming together well. The boiled egg is particularly fantastic here. I love the miso, tonkotsu, and Kumamoto ramen dishes best, personally. I am always happy with the portion sizes. The bowls, chopsticks, and ramen spoons are also good quality that enhances the experience, especially for a food hall place that has to worry about customers throwing out rather than returning trays & bowls.
It’s easy to order from the touchscreen tablet, and prices are equivalent to other ramen places nearby. While an introvert can happily get away with ordering & acquiring their ramen with little more than a nod of acknowledgment from the team, they’re also very friendly and happy to answer questions or provide suggestions.
Even if there’s been a long line of orders ahead of you, food has always come out for us without a long wait, at a perfect temperature. The convenient location inside Henry’s Depot means everyone in your party can order from different food stands if they want and then inevitably look at your ramen jealously & longingly, wishing they had some of their...
Read moreFirst off, I want to emphasize that I'm glad this place is around to offer a different option for diners in historic downtown Sanford.
I've been here once before and ordered the chicken thigh tenders, which were fantastic.
Today, I was in the mood for ramen. When it comes to ramen, broth is king for me. Sadly, all the ramen options at this place had a vegetable broth base. That can be just fine for others. But my personal preference is typically a bone broth, like a pork based broth. You won't find that here. I went with the soy added vegetable broth based ramen. The pork belly was great, the marinated bamboo shoots were nice, and the boiled egg was perfectly fine. But the broth was definitely lacking in complexity of flavor. Again, this could just be a personal preference for broth base. But I don't think I'll be getting ramen from here again, I'll probably go to jimmotti's down a mile on 17-92. I also ordered the "addictive cabbage". It's ok, but hardly addictive. if you're looking for something resembling Korean kimchi in flavor, this is not it. The amount they give you is huge, so I'd recommend ordering this if you're planning to share.
Service was easy, you order off of one of the two kiosks and they text when when it's ready. Presentation was nice and the cook seemed very nice.
Will definitely come back again, but probably stick to the...
Read moreI don’t even know where to begin with Yugiri, everything culminated in a fantastic experience.
First, if you’ve never been it is indeed in the building called Henry’s depot, so when you get confused upon arrival you’re in the right place. Henry’s depot is a cool building with almost a street market feel, with all manner of food and drink available in a great environment.
More importantly though, Yugiri ramen is housed here and that’s all that matters. The Garlic Shio Tonkotsu was the best ramen I’ve eaten, and I’ve looked all across the state for good ramen. The presentation was fantastic, the pork perfectly crisp on one side and tender on the other, the egg cooked perfectly over easy for that custard yolk to marry with a wonderfully marinated egg white, and the broth was sublime. The broth was so rich and flavorful I had to stop and talk with the owner mid meal to gush over it and after speaking with him, I understand why it tastes so good. His knowledge on ramen is seemingly inexhaustible, and his love for the product shows through his conversation and into the bowl.
My only regret is not having more stars to give, and more stomachs to fill. Thank you Yugiri, I will be...
