If you are considering coming here for the first time, just do it, you can thank me later.
We have been here several times and it is always fantastic. The food was amazing. We decided this morning to go grab some brunch. We have heard great reviews from friends about their brunch and I will say it was quite delicious.
My only complaints was it was a little slow getting menus and putting in an order with the server. However it was quite busy and I did see several tables sit around the same time as us. I know how hard that is as a former server, but the girls were super welcoming and friendly and took great care of us.
I was torn between the Southern Croque monsieur and the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. I ended up ordering the Croque monsieur, and just so happened they had made an extra Bacon egg and Cheese biscuit and gave it to us because she knew I had a hard time deciding. And after trying both, I think I would be just as torn deciding which to get next time because they were both delicious.
My wife ordered the French toast, and what a fantastic and unique preparation. The bread was top notch and prepared perfectly. It was cooked in this delicious pumpkin butter and topped with scallions, and for most people that may seem like an odd topping, but the balance of sweet and savory made it just work. My wife opted for the traditional maple syrup instead of the smoked maple syrup. I personally think the smoked syrup would have presented a unique and interesting addition to the meal, next time I will get the smoked syrup.
We did also order the sausage links and they too were fantastic. A beautiful breakfast sausage cooked and presented beautifully. Full of flavor and seasoning. Jimmy dean, take notes, this is what a breakfast link should be.
We sat by the window at the two person high top table, and it was a bit warm over there, there was not much airflow from the air conditioning and the old single pane windows let a lot of the hot Florida summer heat into that area. I am naturally a very warm individual so by the end of breakfast I was a bit sweaty from how warm it was. Next time I’ll sit somewhere else and be fine. Just not the most ideal seating for the Florida summers.
We have also been several times for dinner and they shine in both dinner and brunch...
Read moreCame here one day with some family. We went out for dinner before a show at the wonderful West End Theatre. Ambiance was quaint. It was very home kitchen in a wooden cabin, almost upscale Cracker Barrel? Anyway, it was nice, very cozy. They do a lot with a strip mall space.
Service was excellent as well. Very nice folks who were very aware of our refill needs and the cleaning off of excess silverware and plates. No complaints there.
As for the food, man, we got a lot of food. We started off with two apps.
The Tea Braised Sticky Spare Ribs (Crispy garlic, scallions). Ummm, insanely good. Very sticky sweet ribs with an air of earthiness from the tea. I didn't see any crispy garlic anywhere, but there were plenty of scallions, adding a nice fresh veg that I never knew I needed with ribs. Very good.
Charred Corn and Scallion Hoecakes (Whipped whole grain honey better, cane syrup). These were nice, too. An elevated hoecake. The cane syrup added a touch of sweet, the honey butter added a fatty unctuousness, and the hoecakes themselves were soft and moist. Like eating a whole wheat pancake. So good.
One of the main dishes, I can't remember what it was, and I can't find it on the menu, but it was good. I think it came with a side of barley risotto, which was very nice. It was creamy, but had a nice barley bite to it. Very interesting.
For my main event, I ordered the Pan Fried Catfish (Golden graham/pecan/cornmeal crusted, chorizo cream, red rice, braised collards, rehydrated golden raisin).
Very interesting dish. The crust was a lot of fun. Not sure if the other stuff shone through, but the cornmeal was very appreciated. Cream was nice, a little spice to it. I loved the bite from that very Southern red rice. This place uses whole grains and rices very well! Just a nice dish, elevated respectfully.
Overall, I love places like this. I love places that are considered the best in a small town. I love it even more when those places could compete with the big players in all of Orlando. Finding this place was a treat. I...
Read moreWe've been to Tennessee Truffle twice now & LOVE IT! Their signature item is their light as air homemade biscuits. They're paired with quality items such as grilled chicken, roast pork, house cured bacon, smoked salmon etc & feature garnishes of Heirloom Tomatoes & other really fine fresh vegetables. The house made pickled vegs are excellent. Their sides such as the Macaroni w Tomatoes are great & reason enough to eat here. Other diners have told us their root beer floats & dessert biscuits are great, but we've never had room to try them. Today the special was Roast Lamb w Brussel Sprouts & Pureed Sweet Potatoes. It was delicious & presented beautifully, an elegant lunch! The chef is friendly & welcomes customer comments w enthusiasm. When we spoke to him about our great brunch foods, he broke out one of his original test products, a burnt popcorn ice cream he'd created. It sounded weird but was really good, but we haven't made it to dessert yet. Presently, TT is only open for breakfast & lunch, but business appears brisk, so perhaps they will expand into dinner hours, as my lunch dish was almost too elegant to be a downtown Sanford lunch. The space is funky, with brick walls, music themed original artwork, & blackboard topped tables w bins of chalk so you can create your own art while your meal is being made. The music is classic rock / Motown. Seating is a combination of tables w old velvet covered pews, booths & tables, all very comfy. Food is counter service order, delivered to your table, & staff is personable. warm & friendly. We wish the people of Tennessee Truffle the best, & hope they...
