OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! I found this place on Google reviews today. My husband and I wanted to get out of the house, grab a bite to eat and then go relax on the swings at the downtown lake park. This amazing piece of heaven is in gorgeous downtown Sanford... wonderful vibe all around. There is a couple of tables to eat outside (72 today) and watch cars go by and watch locals shop. The staff has to be the collectively nicest staff I've seen in a years!! All of them were super nice and personable!! I live in DeLand, so it is about a 30 min drive via I-4 for us. We got a Philly Cheesesteak, 2 slices of pep (one to take home), chicken fingers, a fountain drink and a side of cheesy fries. My husband loved the Philly...the cheese that came as a dip for the fries was amazing. I would describe it as a yummy thick queso Blanco. The fries themselves were perfect too. The CHICKEN!!! I have ate a lot of chicken from many different states and these were the absolute best I have EVER had. The pizza was delicious too, perfectly thin w pepperoni (NY style). Even their serving trays were cool. Superb atmosphere, very open...all the extras you need are right there (ketchup, salt, parm, crushed red peppers, etc). The owner, I believe even came out and asked us how everything was. It was the perfect experience, I was so happy (and full!) when we left. This is my new "go-to" spot...the 30 min drive for me was completely worth it!!! If you are in the area or if you're a local that has somehow never been there.... then you should go right now!! Get up and go now.. are you still reading this?...
Read moreWe shared a small cheese steak sub with onions and mushrooms and a slice of pizza with ricotta cheese and sliced meatballs in order to check out the value. We selected the one dollar option of provolone (sharp). I wish I had not done that as the cheese had an unpleasant flavor, but the standard cheese was American or Whiz (cheese whiz?). I don't care for the quality of either of these choices. The sub was amply packed with meat etc., but I can't say the flavor was worth the effort. The roll was nothing exceptional either.
As for the pizza, it was thin crust which I like and had good flavor. I found out that I don't care for meatballs on my pizza, so that was a learning experience. If it was meatballs that I was looking to enjoy, then their's is okay. As is usual for my visits to Italian restaurants there was almost a total lack of tomato sauce. I wouldn't do ricotta again either even though otherwise, I like it. For the price of four dollars, I certainly would not order this again. Perhaps I could enjoy another variety of their pizza, but the chances of returning is slim. I continue to ponder the lack of tomato sauce at sooo many Italian...
Read moreI ordered a 14 inch cheese pizza. When I received the pizza, I was given a degree of attitude for my inability to hear them call my name in the very noisy restaurant, to which I apologized. They left without a word in response.
The pizza itself looked sub par. I would have rather gone to Papa Johns and gotten something fresh. The cheese on this pizza wasnt even entirely melted, and showed the telltale signs of pre-frozen, convection oven-cooked pizza from the grocery store. The pizza crust was far too soft and thin, more the texture of crustless white bread, with only a little extra toughness. After tasting it, I can only assume I payed $20 for a $10 grocery store boxed pizza. 20 minutes into my meal a cook came to me and gave me a to-go container while asking if I needed one. As the second most recent occupant, I was upset that I was the one being encouraged to leave and not the people next to me who'd been there since before I entered. Incredibly disappointed and will not be coming back.
2/10, only because I was...
