A Disappointing Experience at an overpriced restaurant
I very rarely leave a bad review, but that said I was thoroughly disappointed in this place.,
My recent visit to Royal Khyber, an Indian restaurant that claims to offer an exquisite dining experience, left me thoroughly disappointed and questioning the exorbitant prices they charged. From the moment I walked through the doors, it became evident that this establishment was more concerned with taking money and charging for food than delivering a satisfying culinary adventure and letting customers know about extreme wait times (we waited almost an hour for our entrees)
The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere. Instead of an inviting ambiance, the restaurant felt cramped and poorly lit. The décor appeared outdated, with old clumsy upholstery and faint wall paintings. It seemed as though they had made no effort to create an inviting space for their patrons.
Moving on to the menu, I was astounded by the prices. The inflated figures did not match the quality of the dishes that were eventually served. Despite paying a premium, the portions were noticeably smaller than what is typically offered in other Indian restaurants. This alone would have been tolerable if the food had been exceptional, but sadly, that was not the case. The veggie dishes were lackadaisical as can get.
The appetizers lacked flavor and were far from being appetizing. The samosas and lacked the crispy texture one expects. The chicken tikka was dry and overcooked, leaving me with a mouthful of disappointment. It was evident that the kitchen staff had little understanding of the delicate balance of Indian spices. To make things worse, my partner and I both had stomach problems that we felt shortly after eating the appetizers… and felt much worse when we got home…
The main course was equally underwhelming. biryani was a clumpy mess, with overcooked rice and barely any discernible spices. The lack of attention to detail was striking, considering the high prices charged for these lackluster dishes. I’d been okay with my meal if the food was even somewhat mediocre. What I got was the worst Indian food experience I’ve had in multi states!
The service was yet another letdown. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, rarely checking on the customers. It took an eternity for our food to arrive, and even then, we had to ask for basic condiments and water refills repeatedly.
Royal Khyber is an overpriced Indian restaurant that fails to live up to its promises. The lackluster food, uninspiring ambiance, and poor service make it an establishment that is best avoided. There are countless other Indian restaurants that offer superior dining experiences at more reasonable prices. Save your money and seek out a better option for authentic Indian cuisine.
Go to the many other Indian restaurants in Tustin/Santa Ana/Fullerton for much better...
Read moreI bought a groupon for this restaurant and had to make a reservation. So i called them and made a reservation for yesterday at 1:30pm and I mentioned that I had a groupon. Well I get there and there are several people waiting to be seated and its a pretty small restaurant so we were packed like sardines in the lobby area. I go to the hostess and inform her I have a reservation and she says ok, whats your name I'll check. 10 minutes later she still has not returned so i go up again and she says, sorry really busy, whats your name again. I tell and she goes to look in her book and guess what, my name is not there:( She calls me and asks me to point out my name and of course its not there. I'm pretty sure she is the one I made the reservation with but she looked at me like I was lying. So no big deal (I think) and i tell her we will just wait like everyone else for a table, she says or sorry I have 4 - 5 people ahead of you and we close at 2pm, please come back another time!!!!! There were actually only 2 groups waiting and she when I had called to make the reservation I had asked what the latest time would be for us to come since they close at 2pm, she said 1:30pm, it was 1:15pm!!!! Needless to say we left and went around the corner to another Indian restaurant that seated us immediately and service was excellent. I was so damn annoyed at how we were treated by that woman and I had been warned that if you mention you have a Groupon, you are given second rate service. I think it is appalling and disrespectful. If they don't want Groupon clientele then don't issue them. I will not be using my groupon, I will...
Read moreHI I m Indian and visits lots of Indian restaurants in Southern California during my business trips. This restaurant's food is SO SO for the price they are charging. I was there on Friday brunch around 130 pm. I was surprised to see half the restaurant was occupied. They didn't have enough food on the buffet table. The favored rice was dry. Some items like chicken tandoori ( because of that I go to Indian restaurants. ) ran out. Appetizers were running out. Their Naan was so small. They had very less items compare to other places. There were 2 Asian couple came right after me and they didn't have luck in Tandoori chicken, because I took the last piece they had. Their salad wasn't great. No one in the restaurant came to me asking how is food or need something. The desert was not up to the price of the buffet. They made sweet rice thing , called rice pudding. Very cheap to make that dish. They call it brunch but no Champagne. Taste is OK ( i give 4 out of 10 in the scale). Not great. I was about to finish the meal, the manager ( looks like he is the owner) came to me and asked me whether I needed some more naan. I politely say NO because I was at the end of my meal and I m one time visitor( never go to that place in my life) I didn't bother to say yes.The interior of the restaurant is excellent. I thought I paid $16.95 for brunch to sit in that atmosphere NOT FOR FOOD. I GIVE # 2 IN THE SCALE OF 10 FOR OVERALL.I have been to hundred's of Indian restaurants in my life time. I came across some of the horrible ones. This is one among the lowest rated one...
