I recently dined at Himalayan Restaurant, a Nepali restaurant located in the heart of the city, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The lack of taste in their Paneer and Vegetable Korma was a major disappointment. The food was bland and lacked the essential flavors of salt and spices, making it a dull and unappetizing dish. As someone who appreciates bold flavors in their food, this was a letdown.
To make matters worse, the Tandoori (Himalayan roti) roti, which I ordered as a side, was equally disappointing. It was dry, chewy, and lacked the authentic flavors that one would expect from a well-prepared Tandoori roti. It felt like it had been reheated and served, which greatly impacted my dining experience.
Not only was the food lacking in taste, but the service was also subpar. It took them about 25 min after the food arrived to get the Onion Kulcha. We were almost done with our food until then. The waitstaff seemed disinterested and inattentive, making it difficult to get their attention when needed. The overall service was slow and unresponsive, adding to the disappointment of the lackluster food.
As someone who enjoys Indian cuisine and was looking forward to a satisfying meal at Himalayan kitchen Restaurant, I was thoroughly disappointed with the experience. The bland Paneer and Vegetable Korma, tasteless Tandoori roti, and poor service left a sour taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic and flavorful Indian dining experience. It was a letdown in terms of taste, quality, and service, and I will not be returning to Himalayan Restaurant...
Read more"Finally something different!" Seems to be a good summary of the place. As a traveler and growing up in very multicultural city, I have been experienced a large variety of different cuisines, including the westernized equivalent. The Himalayan kitchen is a very nice change to the typical ethnic cuisines seen around most cities (e.g. Chinese, Italian, Greek, etc) and it has an extremely wide range of menu options. My waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helped me guide my choices including what I should pair my meal with. Having soy beans as an appetizer is a nice risk from the traditional soup/salad combo and I liked how I had the option to pair my meal with a variety of sites rather than the cookie-cutter set options. The food was tender, came out sizzling hot and very quickly. Service was fast and polite. Although I love the large menu options, some others may find this intimidating as it actually took me a bit of time to read through all the options. If I could recommend one thing, it would be to drop the "typical" Indian items on the menu and dedicate more to the Himalayan theme, but despite that, I was sufficiently satisfied. Keep on cooking...
Read moreOwner gave me the wrong takeout bag and when I called to discuss the mishap he accused me of stealing the food he gave me and refused to give me my money back. He then told me that my order wasn’t even in the system and again accused me of “stealing someone else’s food.” The owner then told me that I would have to drive back across town from my house to prove that my credit card was charged. I asked if I could send a screenshot so I didn’t have to drive 15-minutes each way, just to get my money back. I finally get back to the restaurant, show them proof. They then tried explain why they could not refund my money and said that my order was ready, they had just made a mistake!! After all of that, they finally admitted they had the order the whole time and just messed up by giving me the wrong order in the first place. It’s absolutely ridiculous what they put me through. Beyond unprofessional. The owner that works the counter is not a kind person (to put it kindly). Stay away from here. There are tastier options further up state...
