As a long-time fan of MoDo donuts ever since they set up a pop-up shop in Mitsuwa, I was extremely excited to learn that they now had a brick and motar store. MoDo is here to stay!

If you're curious about their flavor options, you can easily check what's their everyday flavors as well as their rotating flavors via their website. When you go to their website be sure to select the correct store location so you can get the most up-to-date flavor information. They usually have about 5 or 6 every day flavors with 2 or 3 rotating ones for each day.

My personal favorites include cookies & cream, earl grey, strawberry, and mango (the later two may be seasonal). I have found some of their more tropical flavors like lilikoi (passionfruit) and pineapple to be a bit too sour for my tastes, so if you don't like sour flavors that might be something to keep in mind.

You can order both in-person and online (for in-person pick-up). Usually I opt to order online since it's so easy, but I've also ordered in-person before and there's something to be said about a hot, fresh mochi donut. Be aware as with all popular food places, you'll likely encounter a line, but the workers there are pretty efficiently so you shouldn't find yourself waiting too long.

Needless to say, once a fan, always a fan. If you're looking for mochi donuts, then look no further MoDo Hawaii is THE...

So excited they finally have a store front in the Bay Area! Been a fan of this place when it first opened a pop up in mitsuwa.

It makes all the difference when you eat these fresh. They're constantly making fresh donuts in the back and even when you go to the store to order they freshly dip them. It gets a little messy with glazes because the donut is still warm but it is worth it. Donuts are soft and chewy while the glaze and sugar add just the right amount of sweetness.

You can order online (at least 1 day before) or walk in. Check in process was a breeze, my donuts were done right on time! You can also go inside the store to order. I went on a weekday so the line was pretty short but on weekends it can get long.

Tried their matcha, black sesame, churro, cookies and cream, pandan, and lilikoi. Churro was my favorite but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Some other notable ones were the Lilikoi (passionfruit) which was sweet and tart and their cookies and cream! They post their menu online a week before hand so make sure to check out which flavors they have on...

Omg idk how anyone has anything bad to say about mochi donuts, they literally taste like squishy cupcake donuts that are always flavorful and perfectly moist. The staff were nice and friendly going over flavors I wasn’t familiar with like lilikoi and pandan. I got a half a dozen and they were warm, super fresh, and ready in maybe 2-3 min. I walked in there was no line and they had a lot of flavor options to choose from. There is ample parking here and they have a walk up line or an order ahead/mobile line. This was my first time here and I heard how long the line gets so I was super excited to be able to walk up and go in.

Blueberry 5/5, Passionfruit 5/5, Churro 5/5 Lilikoi 2/5 it’s supposed to have a light coconut flavor- I didn’t like it. The blueberry and passionfruit blew me out of the parking lot w the flavor, omg they were delicious and churro is always on point. They have two other flavors I want to try so I will return and although I didn’t get it, matcha is so freaking good. Thanks for curing my donut craving...

Best mochi donuts ever! What makes this place great is that they make the donuts fresh with every order, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to get fresh, crispy, airy donuts every time. It’s also surprisingly affordable compared to other donuts (mochi or regular) both in the Bay Area / SoCal (as of this post, the donuts were about $2.60 I think). Favorite toppings include: - Matcha: creamy and thick with strong matcha flavor - Lillikoi (passionfruit): creamy with strong passionfruit flavor, tart in a good way - Honeydew sugar (limited flavor) - covered in sugar (like a churro) that tastes like Melona The donuts also aren’t overly / cloyingly sweet in my opinion, but if they are, you can always eat them one “bubble” at a time to pace yourself :) Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a really good dessert! P.S. you can get half a dozen donuts for $10 between 8am - 9am if you wanted to get an early morning mochi donut fix ;)
