Spent a week in the hotel and came down to try the place out. Didn't see the hours anywhere initially but I asked the front desk. First time, tried the Banana Foster French Toast. It was not too sweet and not to syrupy. The inside was nice and airy. Enjoyed it, just wished I had seen the option to make it a "combo". There seemed to only be one lady working and half the tables were dirty as she ran around. Coffee was okay. BF got crab benedict and he seemed to enjoy it. Potatoes were a bit greasy and not too crispy. Second time, I ordered the lobster omelet. Different lady working that day, came back to tell me they were out of lobster. Asked if I wanted crab instead, I said that was fine. She came back again to tell me they couldn't find the crab, what else did I want. At this point, I wasn't in the mood for anything else but ordered the shrimp omelet. When it came out, it really seemed like the chef just threw it all together so he could leave. Eggs were overcooked and rubbery. The shrimp wasn't too fishy but almost felt undercooked. Needless to say, I did not finish it. Check came and the wrong thing was listed and when I mentioned it, the waitress said she couldn't change the check but she would calculate it with a dollar difference. Everything seemed like such an inconvenience for everybody. She actually gave me the little thermal so I could pour my own coffee which was great so I didn't have to wait for her to come by, like I had to do on my initial visit. The bar area has Happy Hour specials and I came down once and had a mango margarita and it was all syrup. That was enough for me not to want to go back for anything. They have the breakfast buffet but according to the server, it's only on the weekends for $26. Not sure what they serve that could constitute that price, considering the menu sounds like they serve regular breakfast staples, nothing out of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited the Greater Pacific restaurant at the Hyatt in Valencia the Saturday before Mother's day for dinner. While the restaurant was nice enough, the dinner was horrible. The Chicken Marinara, was nothing but linguini in what tasted like grocery store bought pasta sauce with the grilled chicken (probably frozen) warmed up and thrown in. The chocolate cake was dry, and tasted kinda stale. Also, one of the berries had mold on it. On the plus side, the waitress was very nice and offered me a couple of beer tastings. While dinner was marginal, for a restaurant of this caliber, the overall experience was passable. In addition to the substandard food, the items we wanted on the menu were not available. The wine we chose was not available. Also the creme brulee was also not available on a Saturday night the day before mother's day. In addition to the sub-par food, we were overcharged for the wine, due to a mix up. While the overcharge was only 3 bucks, we expected more for a $100 dinner. The restaurant was practically empty, which should have indicated to us that it really wasn't up to par. Hopefully, this critique will be taken seriously and in the right spirit, as the restaurant really needs to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTERRIBLE SERVICE - we stayed with Hyatt and came down to have breakfast here this morning. The waitress sat us down with no menus and asked what we wanted to drink then left. Two tables were seated after us with menus and drink orders. We noticed what looked like a continental breakfast setup near the kitchen, upon review we realized it was a buffet - $29 per person for what most hotels would offer complimentary (bagels, fruit tray, oatmeal, bacon and eggs in warmers). When the waitress returned she told us to eat the buffet because anything from the kitchen would be a long wait, she seemed irritated that we asked for a menu. She gave us two menus (we were a table of 5) and told us to order now if we wanted to order from the kitchen, she had just handed us the menus š Not sure what we did or why the awful service maybe she was just having a hard day, but it was very noticeable she did not want to serve us for whatever reason. We paid for our drinks, still tipped her $3 despite the service, and left. I waitressed for more than a decade, I am more than an understanding customer but this experience was a little beyond bizarre for no...
