Read moreIt's nice to have another nice, not fast-food chain, Mexican restaurant option in Santa Clarita. It's especially nice that they are very vegetarian-friendly! In fact there's a whole separate vegetarian section of their menu which includes several plant-based meat options that can be used in any regular dish as well so you can have the full Mexican food dining experience!
The chips and salsa were really good!
I also love that they have a classic mole option which is vegetarian. There's a nearby Oaxacan place that specializes in mole, but doesn't have a classic dark mole that's vegetarian, so fantastic that we can get that at Welik!
I had a "Create Your Own Combo" with a vegetarian mole enchilada and a Beyond Steak Street Taco. Both of these were super delicious and the memory of them still makes my tongue salivate.
They don't have a standard liquor license but are able to serve wine and beer and have a special type of wine-based "liqueur" with a similar taste to tequila so they can use that to mix any classic Mexican cocktail you're looking for. This place did not disappoint!! The salsa was fresh and had the heat that’s missing in many other restaurants. I ordered the appetizer tostadas as my meal and let the bartender decide the protein, shredded beef… MAN, all the flavors were there! Sooo good! They have a nice handful of desserts to choose from. My special treat was the house made bread pudding with vanilla ice cream…. I should have saved more room! chefs kiss
The only negative, that wasn’t a real negative; I was hoping for a strong margarita and found out they only do beer/wine. Have no fear, the bartender (Daniel) made me an amazing Cadillac Margarita with an agave wine (24%) and it was great… I had two!
Not only will I be back, I will highly recommend to anyone who listens! * tostada photo is after I’d already started eating… it was around that time I decided this place...
