Read moreIt's time for another breakfast foods review! 🍳
Parking lot is currently transformed to outdoor seating, so be ready to look for street parking. Luckily, the tables rotate quickly, so you'll only need about 1.5 hours' worth of quarters!
When we arrived, there were about 5-6 parties ahead of us and I want to say we probably waited only 15 minutes. When we were seated, they quickly took our drink orders and moved the specials menu right next to our table for browsing. I appreciated that a lot. 🥺
What we got: orange juice (fresh pressed!!) sourdough toast cinnamon rolls turkey avocado omelette two eggs with sausage and potatoes clam chowder
The clam chowder came with a slice of garlic toast. Oyster crackers will no longer suffice; this is the new standard. It was hearty with lots of chunky veggies.
I've never been to a breakfast place that offers toast, muffins, or FREAKIN CINNAMON ROLLS with their breakfast sets. I think it's pretty obvious what I went with. My eggs and sausage were pretty standard, hard to mess those up. The potatoes were okay, very forgettable. If I could go back in time, I just wouldn't have eaten them. They seemed like boiled potatoes that were cooked on the skillet briefly.
The cinnamon roll was phenomenal. I don't like having nuts(or pecans?) in sweets, but we finished it anyway. It's soft and gooey (but still completely cooked). A smidge of butter is provided to make it extra indulgent. So good!
The orange juice came in a cute cup and was the perfect amount of tartness to cut through the hearty dishes from this meal.
I've been to very little Santa Cruz eateries, but it's clear Linda's cafe is loved by locals and...
Read moreI've been coming here for a long time, so the review reflects my overall experience and not my last 2 dining experiences. This has always been one of my favorite weekday breakfast spots in Santa Cruz. Especially if I am in the mood for vegetarian options (tofu scrambles) . Food is never cold, comes out hot always. Service is great, they provide coffee outside when busy while you wait for a table. On my last visit my coffee mug was so dirty it obviously missed a wash and my eggs (pesto scramble) were full of water and not enjoyable. However, the consistency of the food didn't sour this one mediocre experience. On hindsight I should have mentioned something and gave them the opportunity to fix it. Thanks for all the years of good breakfast!! I did mention my last pesto egg soup before I ordered- I looked forward to having a pesto scramble that wasn't soupy, however when it arrived I needed another plate to drain the water, close to 3-4 Oz of water from the scramble. Waiter was patient and offered to make me something else- good service and attentive. I stuck w it and it was ok after the water was drained. Once again this restaurant has a lot of good memory for me and have had dozens of great meals here. Perhaps using more oil than water in the pesto is a good suggestion, if anyone is listening! Support local businesses, it's the way our community has strong foundation. I'll continue to support this place, even if I had two mid meals (of the...
