Great spot! Two minor suggestions - one, change the default tips to $1, $2, $3 for orders under $5 as that would make it easier to leave a real tip on a coffee drink. (Right now they default to 20%, 25%, 30% which is fine for higher amounts, but makes it hard to leave a dollar tip on a coffee drink.)
And, make it easy to order an 8 oz Americano. I've been to La Mama four times, all four times I've ordered an 8 oz Americano and got a 12 oz. I first tried "8 oz Americano," got a 12. Then I tried "a short Americano" next time, still got 12 oz. Then I tried "a small Americano." This time I went back to ordering "8 oz Americano," every time no matter what I order I get a 12 oz Americano. I have now said I will be ordering an "extra small Americano" and that seems to work but I mean, that's a weird way to order.
It's a minor thing - the food is great, coffee is good, overall it is a real treat to have a place of this caliber in Santa Fe. There are only a few other cafes on par with this and they have their own problems. Sky is great but the staff is rude and they are just hanging out with their friends all day taking the best seats in the house. Betterday is great but the internet is so slow you can't even check email let alone do anything else. Iconik is good but it's so hustle-and-bustle. Bread Shop is great (Pivot Coffee best in town!) but they have no internet. And CMB is great but they don't have much space and their drinks are expensive. Overall, La Mama is one of the best spots in town. Probably 5th or 6th best for coffee (Bread Shop, Pivot, Sky and Iconik have the edge for sure), but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Minimal LA chic with lots of space, fast internet, this is the kind of thing Santa Fe folks miss from big cities! Great job La Mama, and I hope my frank and honest suggestions do not offend, that's not my intention. Just little tweaks that could make things even better.
Oh, and they have a great selection of grocery items, similar to Bread Shop, and reasonable prices like Bread Shop as well. Nice to see more places in...
Read moreOk where do I even start with about La Mama. I think I'm just really grateful they exist. Whenever I think about food at La Mama it makes me so incredibly happy. I adore their seasonal menus and the thoughtfulness at how they highlight seasonal produce. I also appreciate the simplicity and elegance of the menus.
Often run into John at La Mama and he is literally the BEST server ever. He has the best wine pairing recommendation and is incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful and always takes great care of the guests.
That brings me to the natural wine selections. Oh my god. They are so good. Definitely some of the best wines I have ever tasted have been at La Mama. And it's just wonderful that they have a really lovely nosh board to go with the wines.
Love love love their boutique section and the teas they carry. Also love browsing their fridge with the cheeses and the in house goodies like pickled veggies and vinaigrettes.
My one single wishful thinking about La Mama would be the expansion of soup options. And listen I know...not everyone is a soup girlie like me....but I think secretly if La Mama had more soup options (especially if there were options than Ajoblanco in summer) everyone will be a soup girlie.
The soup and the focaccia/ sourdough 🤌🤌🤌
Anyway. La Mama is amazing and you should eat here and...
Read moreThis place is a Santa Fe gem & unique to the area. The shop features local, homemade and small shop goodies; pickled items, cheeses, charcuterie, granola, pastas, crackers, etc. If you like trying new things, you'll be tempted to spend a lot of money!
LaMama is a wonderful coffee shop/breakfast and lunch spot by day featuring many gluten-free, healthy, fresh and homemade items. Their matcha was wonderful & everything was made with care.
Most unique to Santa Fe is its natural wine and craft beer selection by the bottle and glass. They have a daily happy hour on all drinks and a selection of snacks. If you aren't used to paying craft wine and beer prices, you may think this place is expensive, but quality is what you're paying for.
The vibe is what makes it. They have created a wonderfully calming & trendy atmosphere. The front porch features lively outdoor seating while the back patio features a more serene outdoor experience. Indoors there is ampl seating upstairs and the aesthetic is very pleasing.
Every staff member we have encountered has been wonderful and knowledgeable, but Matt is our favorite. He has great recommendations that were "out of the ordinary" for Santa Fe as well.
We've already been here 3x in one week and we...
