I have mixed feelings about Casa de Tres Lunas. I booked the "Half Moon". It is the smallest of the rooms and had a queen bed, kitchenette, and decent sized bathroom.
The location is AMAZING. You can walk easily to anywhere, shopping, food, sight seeing. All great. The hotel itself is very cute and eclectic. There is a cute courtyard and the Half Moon has a private patio with table and chairs. The decor is nice. The whole place has a real homey authentic Sante Fe vibe. The kitchenette has a microwave, toaster, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. All dishware and cookware was provided. There is no front desk. You get a call with a code to your room and walk right on in. There is no maid service, so nobody ever knocks on your door or comes in while you are gone. Not being disturbed was nice. Wifi was good. Very private.
The reasons I have mixed feelings: It wasn't as clean as I would like it. The window treatments made it look dingy and outdated. The room needs a refresh. The room was HOT! We had the heat turned off and the window open all night...and it got down into the low 40's at night. It barely made the room comfortable. We could hear our upstairs neighbors walking around, laughing, talking, slamming things. Occasionally a dog was barking. You are expected to recycle, but not given the means to sort. We only had 1 small garbage bag. We were given 1 days worth of towels for a 5 night stay. (We did ask for and receive more.) Interactions with Bernard were awkward.
So overall, I would say Casa de Tres Lunas...
Read moreWe had a great stay: we rented the Harvest Moon Casita. It was a very cute small house: full galley kitchen, small dining area, pretty good living room, a nice bedroom although a queen bed would fit a lot better than the giant king bed they had, and a tiny bathroom.
Overall small. But, comfortable and very functional. And quite charming with unique decorations -- like living in someone's home.
Kitchen utensils are adequate: a few dull knives, a cutting board, some pots and pans, dishes, flatware, cups & glasses. Bring all your own stuff if you're planning to cook: oil, salt & pepper, a sharp knife, any spices, etc. There's a grocery store a 15 min walk away.
Location is great: just on the edge of the core downtown. Easy walk to the plaza and all the tourist stuff without being constantly immersed in it. It's right on a main road so there's a lot of traffic going by. But, I was surprised by how quiet it was. Esp'ly with the bedroom at the back of the house.
No contact made it like an Airbnb without the checkout work list. So, if you're happy with a vacation rental, you'll be happy with this. If you want a personal touch and someone to ask questions of, this is not the place for you. Since you won't see anyone. No daily cleaning (which is fine with me), no desk to check in at, no one to point out the parking lot (although it was easy to find). Basically you follow the text directions and use a code to get into your room.
Worked great for us. And is top of the list for when we return...
Read moreI booked a Deluxe Queen Studio here via Booking.com. The property was able to shift my reservation and kindly made the dates work out. I want to give special appreciation for this and for the lovely patios.||The room I was in, #8, is likely less desirable than others. A lot of noise occurred (tromping and banging) mornings, before 9AM, when housekeeping was cleaning adjacent units. As an ADA unit, which I do not require, I was surprised that the mattress tops out at several feet above the floor. Just know this will be the case, if it matters to you. It didn't bother me. That mattress, however, is sunken in the middle, so it would not be good for some backs. It wasn't good for mine.||Otherwise, I'd suggest these four things: a trash receptacle in the bathroom, a toilet brush in the bathroom, real milk or cream instead of only CoffeeMate, and drinkable coffee for the coffee maker. ||Location is exceptional for access to downtown and Canyon Road. If weather had been more amenable, I'd have spent much time enjoying the patio areas and would have enjoyed a...
