Food: 3/5 stars for 2 separate visits. We visited in December for the first time in years. The food and service were absolutely amazing. I can be a good snob but was surprised how good everything was. It had definitely changed since the last time I had gone… changed for the better.
Flash forward to yesterday. We decided to go again since we got the gift cards from Costco. We were extremely disappointed with the food. If this was how the food was in December we would have never come back.
Our tortillas were pressed fresh (love that!) but sat on the table for 15 minutes before the salad came (20 minutes before the fajitas).
The salad had a rubber band in it. The server, Kayla, apologized and immediately told a manager. The manager came and apologized. It was the right thing to do and so often I don’t see that in restaurants anymore. I use to work in restaurants… things/accidents happen, I get it. However, it took another 5 minutes for a new side salad to come out and it came out with our non-sizzling fajitas. The tortillas were lukewarm but not hot anymore since they sat there for about 20 minutes. I should have asked for new ones but we were hungry.
The fajitas we ordered carnitas and shrimp. I had the carnitas in December and loved them. This time around there was so much fat I could barely eat it. The shrimp had absolutely no flavor.
Service: 5/5 stars. Besides the food taking longer than usual to come (30+ minutes for the salad to hit the first time) the service was excellent. Kayla did check in on us, she kept giving us reassurance the food was on the way, kept the glasses filled, and told the manager when we had an issue. They even took the salad off of the bill. Again, that hardly happens anymore and definitely the best thing to do.
Atmosphere: I love how far apart the tables are. You can actually have a conversation without others eavesdropping. We also have a child who doesn’t always sit in their seat especially towards the end. We don’t have to worry about them distributing...
Read moreUpon arriving immediately noticed the non working chevys sign. We walked in and we’re told, “bar area only” .. we were met by our server Griselda (attitude fits the name). It was three of us… she gave only two chips and salsa, walked away helped someone else…(we were sitting directly in front of the chois /salsa).then came back and gave us the third. 😎 The orders when they finally came were of course incorrect… there was no cheese on the rice…no queso dip on the carne fries, and because my friend corrected her order with another server.. Griselda’s response was “ I’m your server. Tell me.” .. I report this behavior while still very much in progress to her whom I believe to be her superior… he confirms the addressed issues… however, while speaking to us, Griselda is being extremely rude, (remember I’m sitting directly in front of where she is getting chips /salsa.) Griselda is slamming dishes, shifting her body in a very aggressive manners, interjecting herself into the conversation about our food complaint to the unidentified man , whom also was walking with or seemed to have a form of mobility distress. And the corrected order of tacos… when received of course.. cold as ice. Our first time at this location. And Griselda 🧌ruined it. Chevys Santa Rosa. She was extremely rude from the time we selected our seats. Extremely condescending to the fact she did not recognize the orders were incorrect. Sje kept trying to play victim by becoming extremely loud, trying to cause a scene. The unidentified man, whom bared witness to this obscene behavior, tried with no success for her to remove herself.. he repeatedly apologized to us. And of course the only thing the feel is justifiably.. he compd our lil 40 dollar tab … but if course.. that ignited Griselda…. The fact she was allowed to display those acts of non discipline and obvious insubordination to her superior is something that needs to be looked into. If I ever come back TO THIS CHEVYS LOCATION… IT’LL WHEN SHE ISN'T THE BARTENDER/ IN...
Read moreWe come here all the time. The food is always really good, especially the chips. (Actually, it's funny, a lot of the traditional things I get in Mexican food I don't care for at Chevy's.I do not like their enchiladas or their chili rellenos. But then they have other things that are just off the charts. Their tostada salad is just gigantic and really good. They have their tacos that are good, their chicken flautas. I mean they have a lot of items that are incredible; also, I love their fajitas. But tonight was really good. Often it seems like it's those little details you ask for, extra ranch dressing, or can I get some refried beans with that.... And so many of the servers forget those little details which is understandable and I'm not complaining. But tonight we had a server that's new to us, Candy, she got every single little detail correct! We asked for extra salsa,She brought it, I asked for lemon with my water, she brought it, my wife asked for extra salad dressing for her salad, she got it; everything was just on par. And just as we were running out of chips thinking we're going to need to ask for more. Here she comes with more chips and salsa. It seems like especially these days post covid, great service is hard to get. But tonight the food, the service, the atmosphere was all...
