Mother's Day, I wish we had made reservations elsewhere! We sat there for a long time at a table with a couple dead flowers. The server came over took our drink order in 15 minutes later came back with one drink for the three of us, it was the saddest Mimosa I've seen in my life. Then a couple minutes later he came back with an even more pathetic looking mimosa and then he never came back to give my kiddo her water so she helped herself to a soda in the cooler. Waters took a long time too. Poor guy forgot the appetizer so we didn't get that. Then for three mimosas served in plastic cups a quarter of the way full, we paid $49 LOL when the food finally arrived we had no napkins and no silverware. I found a couple napkins on the counter and took those and when he came back by I asked him for another napkin and some silverware, he dropped the silverware in a pile in the middle of the two tables. He was clearly working alone! Which was odd because there were three other people behind the counter, one of which looked to be the owner. No one was helping this guy, no one was smiling, no one was going around to see how people were doing, mind you it was not busy! I'm not sure what the ambiance is, I don't understand the style of this place. The black plates were weird and the food had no garnish like they didn't even care what the presentation looks like, clearly not even a little bit of parsley or an orange slice, it was strange. The food was not cooked properly, they said they had sausage patty they put sausage links in the sandwich and then for my friend's meal the yolk was cooked all the way through and it should have been runny. I don't know maybe the owner should consider a food truck instead. I really don't like giving poor reviews because that means that I didn't have a nice meal or enjoy my time, so it's a bummer. I just don't understand what was happening at this place. I don't know where the breakdown was in leadership, it's not going to last in Sarasota! My recommendation would be that they go to the dollar 25 store and get either white plates or the blue plates, as they always have these in stock and they would look much nicer, they should put some garnish on the plates and change out the artwork and the owner should walk around and greet people and be happy that she's in business and she should be making sure that all the tables have what they need at all times and support her staff. And maybe some fresh flowers from trader joe's, they are very inexpensive and add a...
Read moreLiving out in Lakewood Ranch, my wife and I have been following BLVD Cafe on social media after reading about it from a local newspaper article. What stood out to me is the location as well as the quality of the food. In particular, the photo of the French Toast looked to die for. It had a white cream sauce with fresh berries. Fast-forward a few weeks on a Saturday, my wife and I decided to make the drive into town to try Chef Mica's restaurant. My wife had an omelet and I had the French Toast. The portion sizes and the flavors were spot on. The ambiance of the restaurant was amazing with fresh art work and seating options both inside and outside. The restaurant reminds you of being at a café in Paris on a Saturday morning. I really enjoyed my time. The prices are reasonable and the Coffee is to die to for as well. Thank you Chef Mica for this hidden gem in the Blvd of the Arts district of...
Read moreStopped by randomly on a Sunday morning around 930AM. The atmosphere is very inviting and it's a small joint. Most tables are only 2 seaters but you can push them together for larger parties.
The breakfast burrito and potatoes were very good. I would recommend this dish to anyone and add a dash of hot sauce too. The French toast was OK ... I was bummed. Probably the thickest French Toast I've ever had. They have a very good sauce for them but not much of it. The ratio of the sauce to french toast is off. The amount of fruit that it came with was also minimal. I would probably ask for extra sauce, fruit, and some syrup if you order the French toast.
Overall I would recommend this place to anyone. Although I may choose other local places before this. It's a little more expensive. I spent 70$ after a 20% tip for French toast , the burrito, 2 eggs with white bread,...
