Wonder Cake Creations — Restaurant in Sarasota

So if I am completely honest I would have to say we were going to go with another bakery initially, until our wedding planner suggested Wonder Cake Creations. HANDS DOWN BEST RECOMMENDATION WE RECEIVED. The cake was to die for and I am a pretty picky customer. The layers were moist, flavorful, not to sweet, precisely complimented by the fillings and the frosting. We had two rounds one was tradional yellow cake with chocolate mousse frosting. There was nothing ordinary about these typically ordinary flavors at all. Wonder Cakes struck the perfect balance between portion of cake to filling to make it melt in your mouth. Our other layer was coconut cake with pineapple filling. What can I say! I have had this cake in Florida at many places. Nobody does it and I mean NOBODY does it this well. The cake was not sticky sweet with coconut, but rich and moist with coconut flavor, it was perfect. The pineapple filling had actually chopped pineapple included in it not just pineapple jelly. I think I would fly from Chicago to Sarasota just for this cake. The decorations: Our daughter had ordered a very specific, detailed cake topper. As this was a destination wedding, David at Wonder Cakes worked with us via phone to match the details she wanted on the cake. He even added extra touches with loose sugar shells that were gorgeous. I really didn’t want to write a bad review because the staff was very nice. However they did not execute the design I wanted or use the right filings/flavors. When we first ordered the cake we asked for buttercream flowers on our cake. 1 week before our wedding they told us they could not do buttercream flowers anymore since the person that does it was out of town. They gave us an option to do sugar flowers so we did that. I wasn’t happy but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They had pictures of the design we wanted and colors. I asked for red and orange flowers on my cake but then they also added purple which did not match the theme of my wedding, nor did I ask for that color flower to be added. We spent so much money on this cake & cupcakes so to be unhappy is really dissapointing. Luckily no one knew we didn’t want purple flowers otherwise that would have been very upsetting. For the filings we specifically asked for chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, they did not do that and added buttercream instead. As far as the red velvet, I don’t even think there was any in the cake at all. I would not recommend this...

I live in Seattle, WA and wanted to surprise my DIL with a beautiful cake for her birthday. Her favorite is pineapple upside down cake. I immediately emailed them and Andriana, the owner and designer quickly emailed me back. We spoke on the phone once about the details. I sent her a beach design theme that I wanted and we received the most creative, gorgeous yummy cake! Since this was going to be a surprise, they even delivered the cake to the restaurant for us! I strongly recommend using Wonder Cake Creations for any special occasion! The process was easy and the cake was amazing in every way!
