The only redeemable quality here and the only reason we stayed was because of the upstairs lounge area. Upon walking in we had enclosed cups from another establishment (some businesses allow it in the area) We're kinda standing around because someone from our group went to the restroom and I wanted us to all go up together.
We've got drinks from the bar and what I can only assume is the most serious unfriendly manager asks “how many?” We tell him we're just waiting for someone and we plan on going to the lounge and he's like “alright those drinks have to go NOW”. He didn't scream but he was so stern you would've thought it was his third time telling us. We all work in the service industry and we know how to politely ask someone or inform someone of the rules. You would’ve thought we called this guy an insult. We had planned to ordered food as I love their fried pickes and pb and j wings but we decided not to because of this interaction. If we were a white family of four, I feel like maybe we would've been approached differently. Maybe he would've said hi! how are you guys? how many today?
Once we're upstairs he comes up to ask us how we're doing and if we all have drinks, he goes on to tell us that the server is focusing on the floor and if we order anything we have to go to the bar and order it and then if we get food he would be bringing it up. It was pretty obvious to me that everything had to be ordered at the bar and then brought up by us but hey maybe they've had issues before. A friend that got there after the interaction happened with this guy, tried joking around with him while he was saying these things and he looked at her and just ignored her and got back to telling us that nobody would be coming up to take our orders.
I came in oct 2nd for a to go order. I come in to find 2 girls standing at the host stand. I'm standing there for about 15 seconds before I say hello and then they say hello. I think employees should be taught to greet everyone that walks in. I felt so awkward asking if I could put in a to go order and I'm not an awkward person at all. It was the way they looked at me like I was interrupting something by trying to patronize their job. No smiles and I feel like that's something l've unfortunately experienced at every food and beer. Nobody looks happy to be there nobody greets you they wait for you to talk it's like they're told to let the costumer make the first move.
Idk I was expecting more from this food and beer especially because of the location and just the immediate surprise of how different this place is compared to other locations. I wanna come back and make it a weekly thing (as we all work around the corner) but after the treatment from the blonde guy with glasses over something so stupid…. You really couldn’t just talk to us respectfully?.…….being polite……. Which I would hope is in your job description?…….
The only thing bringing me back to ANY food and beer is the pb and j wings and once I get the recipe to that I won’t have the need or want to go to food and beer. Why do your employees act like they’re better than everyone? The 1 employee I’ve truly seen smile and act like they enjoy their job is the woman who managed gulf gate over a year ago idk if she still does but she was a blonde, older, white lady, with highlights.
All in all it really sucks because with season slowing down we’re not making as much money as servers and bartenders and it’s hard to get everyone on board for plans because of financial situations, and the night we decide to get together and get out of the house we’re IMMEDIATELY met with this walking in….. we would be here every Saturday after our shifts if it weren’t for this experience…. Bringing our own card games and getting drinks and hanging out at the lounge until 1am but why would...
Read moreI love this place. I always have a great time here. But now I’ve had such a frustrating time and it makes me so sad. We came on trivia night and the food was great, the trivia was fun and the service was great at first too. Once everyone left it was time to order another drink. It took about 15 minutes to get our server to come over and get our drink order that we didn’t even get. After the 15 minutes we want to check on our drink and get a dessert. It takes about another 15 minutes to get our server to us after constantly waving at her to take the order. She checks with the kitchen and they were out. That’s okay, I understand. So we just ask for the check. She says she’s got it and she’ll be right back. 15 more minutes go by of watching her clean and do other things. When she passes by we wave and try to get her attention and we are still ignored. Finally she passes by and I’m able to catch her so she asked if everything’s okay. I ask for the check again. She says she’ll be back in a second. She come back a few minutes later with the check. I ask to make sure it was just one of the certain drinks we ordered because we never got it. She stated there were issues with the tickets printing so it got lost. It really would have been great to know that as a customer at the very least and to not have waited about an hour to leave. So unprofessional and lacking any priority. I understand being busy as a server myself but this was absolutely atrocious. Everyone had left and it was just us and a few other tables. Mainly just bussing at this point. Food was fantastic though. Edit: I do want to mention that I forgot my purse as I was upset and so eager to leave and a man brought it out which was really nice. But I was waving to him too through this experience and was...
Read moreWhere to begin? Let's start with the Herald Tribune swooning over all these restaurants in town when they are, in fact, terrible. We ordered an appetizer. That was a no show; the mozzarella sticks got lost in the month old fryer's grease.
We ordered "homemade" chicken nuggets that turned out to be blackened, overcooked, rot-grease rocks of poultry. Everything was tainted with bad grease. Everything.
How often do you change the grease in your fryers?
Don't lie.
And the service; the waitress kept running away like my wife and I had contagious warts. She absolutely could care less about our bad food, how long it took to get a beer, the missing appetizer, and the grease.
The grease! How do you put fried food on a plate and not know it's charred, blacked and stinky? I've worked as a cook and it really must be, in fact, Gus Fring fryer clean: "You think it's OK? It's clean?" "It's acceptable".
And get rid of the hand held devices for payment that "force" the customer to tip while the server stands in front of them. Our waitress got a tip only because I was under duress....
