Joe's On Main — Restaurant in Sarasota

Really nasty bar with very questionable characters. when we first arrived there were people being bounced out by the bouncers and then later arrested by the cops. Very diverse group of people go there which can be interesting to say the least regarding how everyone interacts. We didn't stay long because it felt like fights were likely to break out. Also the bathrooms are all unisex which I don't care if a business chooses to do that but in a bar setting it's a really horrible idea because they have men and women going into the same bathrooms and I felt bad for the ladies that went in to the same stall after a guy who was drunk and went pee all over the seat. I also imagine some uncomfortable situations when you got intoxicated men and women in the same restroom. Use your imagination, the possibilities are endless. They allow smoking inside so if you want to go somewhere you can smoke and get drunk and maybe even pick a fight this is your place. If you're in college this is a cool spot but if you're a little older or have grown out of that stage, I recommend another choice. 15 years ago I would have loved this place. A great place to hang out an unwind in downtown Sarasota. They are conveniently located on Main Street. My spouse and I have been here a few times previously. This establishment in downtown Sarasota offers an excellent environment for relaxation. Its convenient location on Main Street has made it a frequent destination for my spouse and me during our visits. The bar provides reasonably priced beverages. Our previous experiences have been consistently positive. Coco and Devin, the bartenders, consistently deliver exceptional service, ensuring guests' needs are met and fostering an enjoyable atmosphere. I highly recommend both bartenders for their attention to detail. We plan to revisit this establishment during our next trip to Sarasota. They have reasonably priced drinks. This place may soon be facing a class action lawsuit for the actions of the bouncers they employ. They use excessive force and commit aggravated assault on the regular apparently.

I was asked to leave the other night, wasn't given a reason. Then as soon as I turn my back to the security guy (to set my beer down or finish it) he threw me in a rear naked choke hold to where I couldn't breathe. Then proceeded to shove me out the back door into an alley. If I didn't have my hand out on the way out the back door, my face definitely would have went into it. I called the police and have an incident report number. I just moved here a week ago and as a new local, that was completely EMBARRASSING for me. I've gotten along with everyone else I've encountered except for the security that night.
