Connor and Linda, as well as whoever created my FOUR different types of rolls, those are the people who made my experience of a solo-dinner excellent and unforgettable. I traveled to the Siesta Key Beach for one night and two days. This was my only dinner in the area.
Just to make sure: yes, I ate all four various rolls all by myself! The food was delicious. To make it even better than that, Linda, my friendly and kind server, gave my three sauces. Yum! They were all different and added unique flavors to my sushi rolls.
Connor is the one I want to mention now with gratitude. I am from Atlanta and was in Sarasota for ONE night. I found three other restaurants first on Google, called them, and as soon as each person answering the phones there discovered that I wanted to come in for a ONE PERSON dinner, they became rude saying they won’t take a reservation.
When I called THIS restaurant, Connor asked how many. I said “one”. He said: let me take your name so that we expect you and can help you find free parking. Guess where I ended up in 30 minutes eating a $100-dinner? Thanks, Connor, for not discriminating against solo-travelers and single eaters.
Another thing to note about single eaters.
There was a guy eating alone peacefully at another table near the window, which told me that definitely this is THE place to go for a nice dinner alone. So, if you’re a solo-traveler or a single eater in Sarasota, come eat at this awesome restaurant.
The view was amazing: soft white lights of the gorgeous Sarasota Downtown! And their chill music made the ambiance 100% what I needed. I just loved every aspect of dining here - the atmosphere, the people, the view, the music, the candles, the wine, and the food.
The food is what I’ll talk about now.
OMG!!!!
The sushi was the best I ever had! I ate sushi in Russia, Bali, Jamaica, London, Barbados, and in America in Atlanta, Hilton Head, Daytona Beach, Washington, Baltimore, Savannah, and Sarasota. The sushi rolls at this restaurant were the most unique, flavorful, large, juicy, and delicious!
I highly recommend you check them out.
Say hi from me to Linda and Connor.
Enjoy a glass of Australian Riesling, too!
And you can ask for extra-candles
Best...
Read moreI’m quite concerned about a recent experience at your restaurant. We noticed a stranger, a young person in a motorcycle helmet and all-black attire with a backpack, was allowed to enter and use the bathroom as a non paying guest. Not that there is an issue using the restroom, but the fact he walked around in a helmet the had a tinted mask and seemed threatening. This wasn’t ideal, especially given that this person had been loudly revving a motorcycle outside for 20 minutes beforehand racing up and down the street obnoxiously. Other customers had words to say as well to the host. Extremely drawing negative attention deliberately.
We voiced our concerns to the staff, hoping they would address the situation, but it seemed no one wanted to take responsibility of the issue (very young employees). As they continued to point and address the situation from the restaurant as if they had possibly known the person laughing and what seemed like mocking the kid on the bike. When we spoke to someone who we thought was the manager, we were told the owner wasn’t interested in taking any action to make the guests feel safe. Instead they turned a shoulder and acted as if nothing was really going on. Well it’s 2024 and I want to be able to feel safe when dining publicly.
Yes the food at this restaurant is good, the safety and comfort of guests are paramount. Given the circumstances, we’ve decided not to return sadly because we really enjoyed this spot. The owner and management had the option to make things safe and better yet after by apologizing. Instead they made us out to seem like we wanted a free hand out. “Ha”We’ll be sharing our experience on social media to ensure others are aware of how the owner and manger seem to support customers concerns big or small. In Sarasota, there are many dining options where guests can feel secure and valued, this one proved tonight...
Read moreThis place has been our favorite for more than a year. We go at least once a month because we love sushi. Since you arrive at Tsunami you find incredible attention, the host, the Bussers, the waiters. We usually decided to sit with César most of the time but when he is not there we have had the same experience with different waiters and the truth is that everything has been incredible.
The atmosphere despite always being busy is enjoyable and whenever we have gone they have a musician who makes the experience even more sublime and beautiful.
About the food: There is nothing we have tried here that we did not like, in fact on several occasions we have gone and they offer us samples of dishes and the truth is that they have been delicious.
Appetizers: The salmon sashimi is always fresh just like the seaweed salad, edamames and the tuna tartar🤤 Chicken tatsu-age: omg, it feels juicy, crispy and the sauce has a spicy touch that gives the 10/10 to that, same with the shrimp tempura they are big shrimps and the calamari with the peanuts ohh god! So delicious!
As I said, we go for sushi, our favorites are Georgia (even when it with chicken yes, chicken), Siesta, Snow mountain, Waikiki. Also good: Naruto, Spider, volcano and monster!
Things I decided I want to try: pineapple fried rice because looks amazing, Mongolian beef and the hibachi (another excuse to go back 🤣)
Desserts: tempura cheesecake and chocolate tower SO GOOD!
I’m feel bad that I don’t have more photos on my phone to show how delicious everything we eat every time we go but I always enjoy so much this place so we put our phones away LOL
When I said, I love this place I literally LOVE...
