My experience for my take out order on 12/07/2024 at Egg Harbor Cafe at Schaumburg location. Their food is delicious but their internet take out service is horrible. The internet specificly states that they prefer orders done through their website instead of Toasttab so that's what I did. I placed a food order at 7:16am, I received a text that my food was ready at 7:44am but food was never delivered to my car when I parked at their assigned pick up order parking spot. Keep in mind that I had already received a text from them that stated "Your ordet at Egg Harbor Cafe- Schaumburg is now ready" at 7:44am. After 7 minutes of waiting in my car, I texted them at 7:52am to ask if I had to pick up my food order inside but they never responded back. After few more minutes, I gave them a call as stated on my e-mail receipt "Feel free to call" so I gave them a call but didn't get a live person but only some prompting questions. I went inside Egg Harbor Cafe with my pajamas on and asked about my food order. Thankfully I had a coat on because of the weather so my entire pajamas were not seen.
Apparently my paid food order was lost? I showed a lady that was standing behind the counter doing nothing the text that stated that my food was ready. Another lady that was there clicked on my phone for Toasttab (If Toasttab was their preferred method for customers to order food then they should have NOT specificly stated that food orders through their website was their preferred method). I waited a few more minutes but it was taking too long. When I asked about my food order, another lady admitted that they were just starting to prepare my food. Again I had already received a text stating that my food was ready. (I hope that my food order receipt was NOT purposely lost since I have an ethnic last name. I also hope that situations like this are not occurring purosely at this establishment because of not wanting minority customers).
After waiting 25 more minutes for my food, a guy finally asked me if I wanted a courtesy beverage. At this moment I was already really upset that I decided to not accept their offer. This beverage should have been offered right away when they realized their mistake not 25 minutes after. This situation was inappropriately handled. I was really upset, I waited in my pajamas for over 30 minutes for my new food order. I just hope this was not maliciously done. I added a star to the rating just because the food...
Read moreWe have been to Egg Harbor in Schaumburg a few times but not for the last 2 years.
First about the restaurant. Like most other good brunch places this place too gets very busy. However, recently they started online waitlist system which is perfect. If you plan on visiting this restaurant make sure you enter their waitlist well ahead of time. The waitlist will provide how many folks are ahead of you so you can plan to go in accordingly. Make sure when you reach the restaurant you check in with the staff else they will move on to the next party on the list.
On weekends the place gets very busy so the service was definitely slow. We had to ask for utensils and condiments multiple times. We asked for a side of honey but never got it.
The restaurant is very clean and they take all the necessary covid precautions. All tables are cleaned between guests and they provide hand sanitizer on each table.
They have good selection of brunch food items. We had "make your own omelet" with the side of potatoes and substituted the english muffins with their small size pancakes. Their rainbow pancake is always a big hit with kids. It is a large pancake stuffed with a lot of M&M.
We also tried the blueberry pancake which did not hit the spot. The blueberries were a bit sour which did not taste right in the pancake. The other dish we tried was protein wrap which came out very dry and stuffed with lot of beans. Both of these dishes were not to our liking and we had to ask them to take it back. We talked to the manager about both of these dishes and he was very understanding. He immediately substituted both the dishes with rainbow pancake and tricolor quinoa bowl. The manager kept checking to make sure we were happy with the new dishes.
Overall, I would say our experience was good but the slow service and couple of item quality not being good I am only giving...
Read moreOver a handful of visits, I can definitely say Egg Harbor Cafe does breakfast right. Every time I have been here, I’ve been seated and served promptly. The customers look happy and in most cases, the wait isn’t terribly long at peak time. They’ve offered dispensed coffee when there’s a wait, which is a very nice thing for them to do.
Egg Harbor Cafe has a delicious Eggs Benedict. I’ve had a Florentine Eggs Benedict as well as salmon type here, and both are great. The food is presented quite well.
They also have a barista bar, which can be ordered as part of table service or at the counter. I tried harborchino, which is their version of a frappé coffee. It was mixed quite thick but still delicious.
Being a great breakfast place means taking risks. In that regard, i’ll be honest. I would not recommend the Cassie’s Crepes, the sweet texture of the crepe contrasting strongly against the avacado and eggs was not for me. I did enjoy the sauce that came with it, though.
I know that if I brought this up, it would have been addressed quickly even if it may have been personal preference. That’s how good customer service is. I look forward to returning to Egg Harbor sometime...
