I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Miller's ale house in schaumberg. I went in for happy hour at 3:30. I had read online that happy hour was from 3 to 6 PM. Oftentimes you need to sit in the bar for a happy hour so I asked the Host if I needed to do so. He seemed confused and didn't even know if there was a happy hour. After checking he said yes there was, gave me 3 menus and sat me at a booth. none of the menus were for happy hour. My waitress arrived and I asked her about happy hour and she also did not seem to know about the happy hour there. She did find a brochure that gave what happy hour included. $5 for regular drinks $6 for premium drinks and $7 for ultra premium but again no one seemed to know what that meant. It was determined that it was liquor with a mixer and more premium brands. Then it stated that there were appetizers all under $10 and gave a list of them. I ordered steamed pot stickers and a cheeseburger. And a small picture of margaritas for $10. There were 9 people in the entire restaurant including myself. And it took approximately 15 minutes for my drink to arrive. The Margarita was not good and had extremely little alcohol in it. I waited almost half an hour for my steamed pot stickers to arrive. When they did they were fried. By the time I noticed they were fried my waitress was gone and was nowhere to be found. Finally the hamburger arrived, but was terribly greasy with absolutely no taste. I did order a broccoli side which was actually quite good. The steamed pot stickers arrived, but they were just like the frozen ones you buy at the store. I ate about a third of the hamburger and left the rest. When the bill arrived both the hamburger and the pot stickers were more than $10. When I asked my waitress she said she would ask the manager. The answer she came back with that it was the tax. Clearly there was already sales tax on the bill and the extra charge was for the food. The manager did come out And I basically told him what was in this review. His answer was that everyone was new. I clearly sympathize because we are all having that problem Of not being able to find help of any kind. But clearly the staff was not trained. He also told me that the menu I got about happy hour was old and the prices have changed.. If that was indeed the case then why was the same advertisement on their website? I will say when he came back with the bill he took off the pot stickers and charged $10 for the hamburger. However, when the waitress came back for me to pay the bill she confronted me and wanted to know why I said everything had been disappointing. I rarely write reviews, but I was so taken aback by this experience I felt ...
Read moreUPDATE (Nov. 2018): I knocked off one star because I fear that their kitchen isn't as clean as I would hope. To be fair, I've never actually been in their kitchen to evaluate it, but here are my concerns:
I recently sat at a table that had as open a view to the kitchen as possible. The back counter had a lot of dirty dishes and food waste (on the counter, not a plate) that was there, untouched throughout our 50 minute stay. The bigger concern was that the floor had food waste, a piece of toilet paper, and a couple napkins laying on it throughout our entire stay. It bothers me that this mess was never addressed by any staff member (server, manager, line cook, etc.) as they walked on/over the mess on their way into and out of the kitchen. If not one of the 12+ people thought to pick up trash from the entrance floor of the kitchen, it signals to me that this type of thing is likely normal throughout the entire food prep area. It's just hard for me to believe that someone wouldn't notice and clean up waste on the floor if the entire inner kitchen was immaculate.
I have not returned to this restaurant since and likely won't be coming back.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've eaten here four times (3 lunches, 1 dinner) and I would put it in my regular rotation solely for their lunch specials. Portions are generally large compared to the price and the food is of standard quality for a sports bar/restaurant. Service is super hit or miss. Two times (both lunches) I had to ask to get a server after no one came to our table for over 10 minutes. The servers are polite but I wouldn't say that I've ever had anything better than okay service, at best. There are TVs everywhere showing a pretty wide array of sports and Chive TV (popular...
Read moreWe are so heartbroken having to find out oir Favorite Bartender/server Jocelyn is no longer there. Jocelyn was the life of the party that brought the enjoyment when one visited this Miller Ale house location, Schaumburg. She was Friendly, upbeat, sociable and made one feel welcomed and provided stellar service with a touch of genuine and personal class. Jocelyn was never into gossip or played with anyone's, time, money or emotions. She was there to Work! Great for when one who needed a laugh. More Bartenders and servers should be like this. Jocelyn was Definitely an asset to this joint. Reason why I was a regular and Others used to come here.!!! Tim is an awful Mgr., and the others just follow because of favoritism. This man seems grudgeful. Stories we have been told by many of the employees here make sense. Some are only there cuz they are favoured or left to do as they please so long as they do side favours for management. Tim doesn't know how to be a proper restaurant business Mgr. His etiquette is selective. Good when it works for him, and not with no good intention for some employees. Now that Jocelyn's no longer here this place will go back to being the lame ole high school like atmosphere it was. Staffed with thieves, liars, and addicts of sorts. We are taking our services, and other groups are too and going elsewhere. Hope Corporate finally cleans house for this location or fire so called mgrs especially Tim for being so unfair and unjust. No wonder he had to beg for his job back with Miller's when he couldn't run his own place he tried opening. That was...
