Sbarro is probably my most favorite fast food place, and since this particular one is closest to me, I'll share my thoughs on it here.
Now, as to the menu, I love when it kept simple, yet made really tasty. That's all about Sbarro. Combo of a stromboli or a pizza slice with a salad or a pasta on a side, when these are made really good, is a great substitute for usual sandwich/burger with a fries on a go. My favorite here are pepperoni/cheese stromboli and Hawaiian pizza. Speaking of pizza tho, it is a thin-crust perfectly goldened pizza, and I prefer theirs over most famous pizza chains. As to the sides, pasta is made al-dente and they'll get you as much marinara as you like (and it's good, try it). Salads are quite simple, but all the veggies are always super fresh, you can tell employees here watch them well. I also want to mention, that they warm up everything before serving in specialized conveyer oven (even though it has been stored on a warm surfaces), as well as the pasta in hot boiling water. Nice approach!
Service seems great to me at this particular location. Workers always smile, serve nice and fast. Once I walked into men's bathroom and saw the floor drain broken and filthy liquids were coming back out of it. As soon as I reported this to the crew, they send a couple of people to clean it up and take care of it the very same moment.
One last thing, I love their strawberry lemonade; the strawberry syrup they use to make it is so good, it even has just a slight bit of pulp in it. Not like the ones you tried made of mixtures, try it!!
My only concern here is their exhaust system. It needs to be cleaned/changed/upgraded, because if you dine in at the time they cook a lot, all of your clothes will get that oily greasy heavy-duty kitchen smell. I can stand it, but if you're going to meet other people after visit, I'd rather take care of all the...
Read moreThis Sbarro is located inside the famous Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, and honestly, I expected much better from a restaurant in such a busy and well-known place. It’s run by a few women, and none of them were very polite — in fact, most of them acted like they didn’t want to be there at all. The customer service was terrible, full of attitude, and not once did anyone greet me with a simple smile or thank you. Every single employee working there seemed annoyed and uninterested in helping customers — like doing their job was some kind of favor to the rest of us.
The pizza was just average — nothing special, definitely not worth the price. It looked like something thrown together just to say it’s “fresh.” But what really took this experience from disappointing to downright unpleasant was the restroom. It was absolutely disgusting — dirty, smelly, and clearly hasn’t been cleaned in ages. Walking in there felt like a punishment, not a convenience. It gave the impression that this place doesn’t take hygiene seriously at all. If that’s what customers can see, I don’t even want to imagine what’s happening behind the kitchen doors.
For a restaurant inside one of the most popular malls in Illinois, this kind of neglect and bad attitude from staff is beyond unacceptable. It’s embarrassing for both Sbarro and Woodfield Mall. This place desperately needs better management, serious cleaning, and customer service training before anyone should consider eating here again.
The only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one is because the pizza was at least edible — otherwise, this would’ve been an easy one-star review without question.
If this is the best Sbarro can do, they should be ashamed to have...
Read moreWhen I was a kid one of the highlights of going to a mall was the guarantee of stopping at Sbarro for pizza. In today's world, Sbarro earns one word from me. Overrated. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really enjoy it all that much either. I tried a Chicken Four Cheese Stromboli and it was as plain as day. You could actually taste each individual item in it. But they didn't compliment each other well or have any kind of interplay together. It was just bland. I also tried a slice of Hawaiian pizza. I admit I was pleased with the amount of ham and pineapple on the slice (yes, pineapple can go on pizza, grow up). But there wasn't much pizza sauce to really bring the slice together. It was basically ham and pineapple in melted cheese. The crust was enjoyable. A light airy top crust and dense yet crumbly bottom. It just needs some sauce. I ordered my son some macaroni and cheese, I tried a little and thought it was very good. A mild white cheddar smothered cavatappi pasta dish most certainly satisfied him. The hot display case here looked magnificent and the pizzas were mouthwatering to look at. Service here was good. We came here on Wednesday afternoon and it was basically just us dining in the restaurant. Sbarro isn't the most overrated restaurant here at Woodfield (Charleys has that honor) but it certainly doesn't possess the same shine and luster it owned back in the 90's and 2000's. I'll likely miss it when it's gone and reminisce about what it was...
