I will say this is a great date/ girls day activity, it’s a lot of fun smelling all the amazing scents & creating something of your own! Some scents were stronger than others, but I feel like when you actually put them in your candle it is very faint.. Also, you’re kinda left to your own devices because the employees don’t help as much as you’d think which is fine if you want to do your own thing.. but alot don’t seem like they care to be there!
The main reason I am writing this review is because of the CANDLES (so if you’re going to create something else you can pass over this review). I would probably go in to make a lotion or something to give the experience another try, but NOT for the candles as you can read below..
First off they are quite expensive, the scent is very minimal, the service was average if not below that.. but MOST importantly, these candles produced an INSANE amount of soot in my house (1 candle in particular that I had to throw away because it was so bad)! The soot was incredibly hard to get off my walls, shutters, white cabinets, it even managed to get into our noses because we were blowing black stuff out of our noses every day we had the candle lit.. by day 3 of having this candle & realizing that was the cause we threw it away immediately even with it being still over half way full!
MORE DETAIL BELOW: My boyfriend and I made 3 different candles because we are so indecisive, but we also enjoy having candles around the house so it’s not like we wouldn’t use them!
I have to say making the candles is pricey.. I understand you’re paying for the experience/ the jar, but I could learn to make them myself or just go out & buy several large candles with a stronger scent for that much! For 3 small sized candles we paid about $143.. maybe the other stuff is less, but the candles were expensive! I asked if they have a recycle program where if you bring back the jars you could do a discounted candle & they said the manager could take off $1 lol..
Regardless of that, I was a little disappointed with the employee interaction. I feel like our candle chemist seemed like they were too good for the job and didn’t care to be there (also, this was in the summer so it may be different now) but just some insight on what could’ve made the experience better!
I would not recommend making a candle due to what we experienced, BUT maybe creating something else would be a better option! I still think it is a great concept which is why I gave it a 3 ⭐️ instead of a 2.. everyone’s experiences could...
Read moreSuch a fun place! I am from Seattle, and was visiting my parents who live near Scottsdale. My mom knows I love candles, so she planned an afternoon here for me to create my own candle. She didn’t know that my husband and I were searching for a very specific scent that we used to purchase from an Etsy shop that had recently closed down. Candle Chemistry had (almost) every single scent that made up our favorite candle (oak moss, whiskey, leather, and tobacco). I improvised, and was able to get pretty darn close to the exact scent. I surprised my husband upon returning home. He has since burned it every single night. Next time we visit my parents and Candle Chemistry, we will be making several candles. The associates who work there are so friendly and accommodating. They want you to be 100% happy with your creation. I think the prices are very fair for what you get (the experience, the customer service, and the actual product). Whatever scent you have in mind, I guarantee they have it, or...
Read moreI was surprised by my husband and taken here on a day outing (he also invited mom). We got there and were greeted by very friendly staff. The owner was very personable and spent time talking to us and explaining the process. We took our time smelling all the scents. Time came to make our custom candle and again the staff were very friendly and offered suggestions on which scents compliment each other. Not only did I make 2 candles of my own but purchased 4 of their prepoured candles. Couldn't wait to get home and light one. I chose to light a prepoured one first as my husband had heard great things about the scent. The candle was named "Arizona", oh my goodness. The smell is amazing and you are able to smell it in the other areas of the house.
Best experience in a while since the pandemic hit. Can't wait for the new location....
Thank you Candle Chemistry for a wonderful experience. I look forward to purchasing more...
