We were visiting Scottsdale and were excited to find Grimaldis. On previous trips, we had visited the Grimaldis under the Brooklyn Bridge and we dine regularly at the location in the Pallazo in Vegas. The first evening we tried, it was close to closing time and we were turned away. Understandable since the pizza takes time to prepare. We tried again the next day of our trip and sadly this attempt to dine at Grimaldis was also unsuccessful. They were stoking the ovens and it would have been a two hour wait. We made our third attempt during a lunch break from a business meeting. Since we knew it took time to prepare the pizza, we called and placed our order ahead of time. There wasn’t an option for call ahead for dine in so we had to place the order to go. Upon arriving at the restaurant, our pizza was ready. We informed the hostess we really wanted to eat at the establishment but had to call ahead since our lunch break was only one hour and call ahead dine in wasn’t an option. The hostess advised us we couldn’t sit down even after telling her we’d like to order drinks and dessert with our pizza. We asked to speak to a manager to clear up the confusion in hopes we might get a table. The manager, Joey came over and informed us that by using a table it would take a table from a server. Mind you we had explained the only reason we had called ahead was so that we had sufficient time to eat at Grimaldis during our one hour break. After assuming we were cheapskates, Joey agreed to have us seated. Emily was the bright spot in our lunch. She seemed happy to be our server and was pleasant and got us our drinks in a timely manner. Of course, we left Emily a nice tip, over 20% on the full price of the pizza and drinks. The way management addressed us, assuming we were trying to stiff the waitstaff left us with a less than favorable feeling about this particular location. Out review is in no way intended to be reflective of the excellent service we received from Emily but more so on our interactions with the original hostess and Joey the manager. Don’t assume the worst of your guests. Our whole point in ordering ahead wasn’t to stiff the waitstaff but instead was to allow us to patronize your establishment during the short lunch break we had. Essentially, our recommendation would be only dine here if you have at least a couple hours or more to do so. It is located in a very popular shopping area and parking is difficult to find. Furthermore, if you call ahead to get your pizza started, Joey assumes the worst. If you do have adequate time, ask for Emily,...
Read moreFirst Visit today. The Meatball Pizza is Awesome but order to go. Wanted salad but no ranch there. Unexperienced, over worked wait staff. I didn't notice the tables were small at first but stuff piled up. Waitress never cleared off anything, menu, wine carafe, even the check! Didn't look at us after our order. Asked for waters with extra lemon to start got 1 lemon in 1, 2 in the other had to give my daughter my 1 and take the rinds. My daughter needed water refilled had it at the end of the table she walks by 7 times never looks, couldn't hear or see me get her attention or try to ask . Had to stop my daughter from raising her hand and watch her guzzle the Dr Pepper I didn't want her to drink much of. A Busboy saw me and gave her a water with 3 lemons!! She finally checks on us, wow. When we were ready ask for rest to go she zips by and finally took the menu, not a word, and leaves my empty water at the end of the table, Choking on crust! I waive for water she looks back but just keeps going. I"m laughing out loud at this point! Trying to make due with the wine I had left. Finally got water and asked for rest to go, she takes 2 slices and leaves the third. Comes back and doesn't want to wrap it in foil, has the nerve to tell me to shove it in with the rest! Which is wraped in foil. Ruin the like the rest then wants to rip open the foil in front of my daughter, rudely like!!! I can't say more. Go elsewhere for a nice meal indoors with your kids. Order a meatball pizza to go it is awesome! My daughter LOVED...
Read moreGrimaldi's makes great pizza but this location has the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. We order take out ever week or two and it's not cheap pizza. They make good money off us. Tonight we order (from the Grimaldis website) a large Quatro pizza, salad, and pumpkin cheesecake. The order comes, which fyi they can't be bothered to ring the bell and just always leave it on the stoop, and when we see that it came realize they didn't deliver the cheesecake. Annoying that I even have to call and get my refund while the $50 pie gets cold, but then they REFUSE to refund my$7!!! Honestly, can you even believe this?? They tell me I now have to call THEIR delivery service (NOT MINE because I ordered it FROM THEM) and "request" a refund from them. Even though I made it clear that this was absurd and I was VERY unhappy with this decision, they would not refund the dessert I never received. I mean how petty!! Lose a customer over a slice of cheesecake. C'mon people! That's absurd. I will NEVER EVER order their food again and will tell EVERYONE I know what petty crooks they are.
Oh and BTW, they gave me an 800 number to call and I was on hold for 15 minutes before I decided they could keep my 7 bucks since they obviously need it that badly! Then I enjoyed my LAST Quatro pizza.
