This was a lovely stay in Seaside for my wife and I to have our honeymoon! This inn is located right on a beautiful river, which was our room’s view, too! It is also conveniently located adjacent to the main strip of cute shops and various food/ice cream/coffee/candy shops to check out on a nice walk up just a few blocks to the ocean. The rooms were cozy and very clean! We had a fireplace in our room that added to the ambience. The complimentary breakfast each morning was really delicious and a wide assortment of options for any diet. We didn’t use them this stay, but there is an indoor pool and hot tub that looked quite inviting, too! (Adults only after 10pm and it’s open all night!) The friendly service was the most appealing part of our stay at Kathryn’s Riverfront Inn. We were greeted each time we came or went through the front desk area. There was fresh coffee and chilled, fresh-fruit flavored waters available throughout the day in the lobby. We were treated kindly by every employee, including those working the breakfast in the mornings keeping everything clean, refreshed, and replenished. We were also helped out by the friendly staff member we called after arriving at our airport to go home, then realized my new wife lost her wedding ring in the room. They immediately checked the room and laundry area several times, but didn’t find it…yet. They called us back to tell us where they looked and to assure us that when it’s found they will contact us to get it back. The response was so helpful and quick, and we really appreciate the efforts and not making us feel we were a bother in any way.
A few recommendations if you stay here, Dooger’s restaurant, right by the parking lot of the inn! The food and service was excellent! Pig n Pancake for breakfast- wow! Times Theater for their food, clam chowder (we tried 3 places, this was the best) and cheese curds OMG, as well. Mo’s is good food right on the beach, beautiful at sunset. Controversial Coffee and The Inverted Experience is a neat place to check out, great coffee! We also enjoyed that everything was within walking distance. We barely used our car rental, which was fine w me after the 2 hour drive from Portland…beautiful, breath-taking view, but winding roads. Non-drowsy dramamine medicine was a big help! And don’t miss the beach at night, and it’s a quick, pleasant stroll downhill back to the Inn when you’re done!
We highly recommend this little hotel that feels much more like a private lodge! We hope to return again soon, as four days wasn’t...
Read moreThis was mid-February, and our first time staying somewhere in Seaside not directly on the waterfront. Honestly, it was such a lovely place that I might pass up the ocean-view properties going forward! Everything about our stay was wonderful, from the gorgeous lobby that greeted us when we walked in, to the well-appointed and tasty breakfast we enjoyed on our final day. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful for our entire stay. You could really tell they were working to go the extra mile and make guests feel comfortable, even on an extremely busy weekend with a big dance event at the nearby conference center.
Speaking of, the location was great! Right on the river, a very quick walk to the beach, and in the middle of the main cluster of shops, restaurants, and attractions along Broadway.
The room was spacious with vaulted ceilings on the top floor. The decor wasn’t anything flashy, but felt authentic and homey in a way that a lot of “modern” design room don’t. The cute little balcony over the river was a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. And, the room was equipped lovely printed mugs and wine glasses to use for either! We loved them so much we asked at the desk if we could purchase a pair to take home, and you can!
This was just one of the many special touches we noticed at The Kathryn. I personally enjoyed having access to not just a pool, but a hot tub and sauna. Even better, that access is available 24 hours! While we didn’t end up using them ourselves, we appreciated the games and DVD’s available in the lobby for guests to enjoy. My favorite feature, by far, was the surprise salmon chowder served in the lobby in the afternoon that I still can’t stop thinking about. A perfect little pre-dinner snack that served us well for a slightly chilly walk on the Prom.
Overall, just a really impressive and memorable stay. I definitely recommend to anyone...
Read moreWe had a pleasant stay here in a king suite with whirlpool. I love these big tubs for soaking in quietly for a break from our hectic life. This was our first stay in this hotel in seaside oregon, and a first for the choice hotel brand.
We asked for in advance, and received, two units on the top floor next to each other. We were told this would be noted but could not be guaranteed prior to check in so we were quite happy they were able to accommodate this request.
I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, as well as the location of the tub in an alcove area by the window.
I thought the bed might be a problem but it actually slept well and I woke up not hurting both mornings after a good night's sleep. The room had traffic noise from cars which did not bother me, but it might bother others.
The bathroom was nicely appointed with a walk in shower and overall I was pleased with it, but it needed a really good scrubbing and had mold growing about a 1/4 inch above the shower base almost all the way around, this was shared with the office when we checked out, as it was in both my bathroom and my daughters room bathroom, which was the room next to ours.
Other than the shower, the room itself seemed clean, bed and bedding were clean, the balcony needed some cleaning as well, so we never stepped out on it, but it did overlook the river which was nice to look at.
As this was our first visit here we stayed Sunday and Monday night, as the weekend nights are more costly. For the price we paid I was happy with the room, but would not pay the weekend rate for it.
Overall a nice room that could use just a bit more attention to detail...
