My friend and I were there yesterday, we were talking and having a drink when we got hungry, we ordered using the bar code on the menu and when 15 minutes passed I went to the window and checked in to see if the order was good, then from the bar, the bartender (the one that owes the cat) shouted āif you didnāt get a text your food is not ready ā and I replied, thatās not what Iām doing, Iām checking because I didnāt get a confirmation email/text. A few minutes passed and my friend to check, she came back saying this person, the bartender, with the cat, asked her if she was Hispanic and asked if she spoke English because there is obviously a barrier of communication! My friend is born and raised here in Washington and yes even though she is a woman of color she does NOT speak Spanish. It was a bit demeaning and uncomfortable. Again, the bartender went to check on the food and our order wasnāt there, then he came back, upset, telling us he can communicate with the chef because he doesnāt speak English and I said āwell I doā and he laughed and said: I asked your friend if sheād Hispanic and if she speaks Spanish and she said no, which I replied ābecause she is Hispanic and no, she doesnāt speak Spanishā then he said: you go talk to the chef then!! LOL, I did, the chef didnāt have our order, it felt so uncomfortable that we left. All that being said is: sometimes I go to cap hill specifically because I feel safe as a heterosexual woman and a woman of color, to behave that way towards people because you feel some type of way about them in a place that claims to be safe is crazy work, to behave like that during this awful racist times Latinx communities are going through is crazy as well. Not saying that I wonāt comeback, the bar is alright, but maybe some training about how to treat people would be helpful I donāt know....

I used to enjoy coming to this bar, until today when I went to drink in the sun with my friends. The bartender looked at my Canadian Alberta Drivers license and told me they would need a passport. I explained that I have used my drivers license at all establishments in Seattle for two years and had no issues. I was shocked and did not understand her rationale, stating it was the law. The door man offered to pull up the law, and it was plainly written that valid Canadian drivers licenses are acceptable. On learning this, they still did not want to serve me. The bartender said it was because I āput up a stinkā, but I was just politely but sternly defending my knowledge and the establishment did not like that they were wrong. Thatās the only explanation I have. I gave them the opportunity to politely discuss this matter and...

We took our seat not once did he come by our table and ask us if we wanted anything to drink our even assist us as customers. We were the only two people in the establishment at the time. I thought Seattle was better than this but I see we still have along way to go. I wouldnāt recommend this establishment to any people of color itās not for us. The bartender was very rude when we ask for a menu so we just decided to leave and for sure will NEVER GO BACK. I guess our money isnāt welcome there thatās the vibe we got. I would recommend a place where the bartender is not busy on his phone and greets customer with courtesy and respect no matter the race or genders. Capital Hill please...
