Currently working on tattoo number 10 from True Love, from three amazing artists. Truly a wonderful place to get work done. It's also super queer, which is something important to me.
I had a couple other negative and awkward experiences at other shops in the past, so it was important for me to find people and a place I was comfortable with, given that everything is permanent and I wanted positive memories behind each.
Vox Dombek is weird as heck in the best possible way, and always comes through with the strangest ideas that I love. My favorite piece so far is a lady-mantis ripping a dude-mantis in half, with a trippy, bright color scheme and rainbow blood. You can tell that they care deeply about the work they do and the people they do it on. Basically for every tattoo, we pick a bug and Vox just runs with it.
Chloe Rozo is extremely pleasant, kind and gentle. I only have two from them so far, but I have plans for more in the future. Their black-work is super saturated and has held up amazingly. Also, I got a character from the game Undertale, and they played the soundtrack from the game the entire time, so bonus points for ambiance.
My first tattoo from True Love was from Jesse Way-Out, who does some rad psychedelic work. His was a delightful, colorful spider that somehow has dad energy? Unfortunately he ended up moving shortly after it was done, otherwise there would have been return visits with him as well.
The shop owner, George, seems to have a knack for getting incredible folks into the shop. When I'm getting a tattoo it's cute to see him go around the shop watering plants. 10/10 beard.
But for realsies get a...
Read moreMy first experience with True Love Tattoo was a quick phone call to inquire about their policy on walk-in appointments... I was connected with Chloe on the phone who was extremely professional, kind, and helpful right off the bat. Despite me initially feeling like I was asking TOO many vague/annoying questions, Chloe's patience never wavered. Before I knew it, the anxiety of not being 100% sure on what I wanted OR having an appointment had melted away.
Flash forward to getting into the shop! (Same day as the phone call, roughly 4 hours later) - Chloe killing it again with a warm welcome and an offer of green tea or water while I filled out paperwork. My artist would be Mr. George Long who came out to ask a few questions about what I wanted with my design. George was extremely patient and helpful drafting up an idea of what I had in mind before putting it on transfer paper. Again, despite my indecisiveness, True Love Tattoo went above and beyond in making sure I was happy with the placement of the stencil, reapplying it 3-4 times before landing on a spot/angle that worked best for me. George worked quickly and with expert precision making me feel like I was really getting my moneys worth. The conversations varied and the entire experience was extremely pleasant.
I left with a tattoo I was truly happy with and a shop I feel like I could definitely become a regular at. Do yourself a favor if you're looking at getting a new tattoo and DO NOT PASS...
Read moreWas visiting from Boston and decided to get a quick tattoo, but I don't go to just any shop so I did a little bit of research and this was the best I come up with in such short notice. Had good reviews with with what looked like good artwork and artists so I gave them a call to see if they could squeeze in a walk in. Most of us no walk-ins are hard to do if you want a good tattoo but they had a new guy named Eric who was up to the task. I went in for a quick consult a few days early we got the idea down and the next day I was Inked Up. I got to give props to Eric, while shy and somewhat quiet when all was said and done it was a great product. In my personal opinion the shop is trying a little too hard to be over professional in a sense thinking there's something other than tattoo artists. At the end of the day we want friendly people who just want to tattoo not businessman. Overall I had a great experience great product great tattoo only reason I give it a four out of five is it wasn't quite as friendly and relaxed as a person getting a permanent tattoo might want it...
