Fremont Bowl is a hidden gem in Seattle's dining scene, specializing in Japanese Poke that will tantalize your taste buds with its freshness and quality. The standout feature of this eatery is undoubtedly its impeccable chirashi. In a city renowned for its seafood, Fremont Bowl manages to stand out by offering some of the freshest and highest-quality sashimi you can find in the Seattle area. It is truly a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts.
One of the restaurant's major strengths is its fast service. In comparison to similar establishments, you won't find yourself waiting for ages to satisfy your poke craving. This makes it an ideal spot for a quick, satisfying meal during a busy workday or when you're simply in a hurry.
While the quality is unquestionable, it's worth noting that the prices at Fremont Bowl are slightly higher than those at its competitors. However, the freshness and taste justify the premium, making it a worthwhile splurge for foodies looking for an exceptional dining experience.
One area where Fremont Bowl falls a bit short is in terms of ambiance. The restaurant's interior is rather plain, none of the Japanese themed atmosphere that some diners may seek. Nevertheless, its location in the vibrant Fremont neighborhood compensates for this. You can easily explore the bustling area before or after your meal, making it a great place to hang out with friends.
Parking can be a minor challenge on a Friday night due to the popular location, but it's generally manageable. In summary, if you're looking for top-quality Poke and speedy service, Fremont Bowl is the go-to spot, even if you have to stretch your budget a bit for...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have been regularly going to Fremont Bowl for a couple of years and most recently since we moved to the Eastside, we've been going to their Bellevue location called Donburi Bowl. A month ago I would have given Fremont Bowl 5 stars but today I want to give it 2 stars and settled on 3 stars let me explain....
The Fremont Bowl chirashi bowl is perhaps the greatest raw fish based dish you can buy in Washington State, such an incredible mix of different fish over a bed of perfect rice at a price that can't be beat. It may seem expensive up front but if you consider that you are getting around 16 pieces of incredible sashimi for around $18 I challenge anyone to find a better deal than that....
With all of that being said I am almost ready to give this place 2 stars. We noticed the quality declining at the Bellevue location and we're ready to go back to the original Fremont location to get our chirashi fix but have noticed similar recent reviews regarding that location as well. The sashimi portions are smaller, sadder, and not as fresh as they used to be and the price has increased as the quality has gone down...not sure if they switched suppliers or what has happened but it is no longer the same.
I want to thank Fremont Bowl for all of the wonderful chirashi bowls I've had over the years and I am hoping that the recent quality will change and I can give this place the 5 stars it deserves but for now it's a 3...
Read moreI am a regular patron of Fremont Bowl. Even though they have been slowly hiking up their prices (the price for the chiraishi has grown $2 since the beginning of the pandemic), I still go there once every two weeks.
However, recently it has become obvious that they are slacking on quality. The portion sizes on the fish have steadily gotten smaller each time, and I have tried to overlook it. My last order was the last straw. The chiraishi is described as a medley of, "tuna, chopped fatty tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, shrimp, eel, masago." And at its peak, it truly was; go marvel at other users' photos. But my last order contained mostly salmon, with a few sad pieces of discolored tuna. (I ate the eel before I took the photo, oops.) I was sad to see my favorite yellowtail nowhere to be found.
I would've been understanding if the restaurant notified me that they were not able to use the usual ingredients. They have plenty of other delicious dishes. For instance, their teriyaki chicken is underrated IMO. Instead, they chose to skimp on quality and take my money. It is incredibly disappointing that I have to write this review given how much I enjoyed them in the past. I think it is only fair that I share this experience so that other customers know that the once great Fremont Bowl may no longer meet their...
