Lantern Brewing is a genuinely amazing neighborhood taproom and brewery with excellent staff and great beers. It's a place that is almost aggressively local, in that almost every single item that goes into their beers and comprises their establishment comes from somewhere inside of Washington, which is a very deliberate decision that they expend a lot of effort to pursue. The owners, like their brewery, are also welcoming, unpretentious, and overall great folks who are frequently seen behind or at the bar themselves.
The taproom itself isn't anything fancy, just tables on concrete, but is welcoming, and is really just an extension of how genuine and unpretentious they are. It does tend to be infested with children in the early evening, but usually resolves to a chill crowd of local regulars by the evening. Summer is an especially pleasant time to visit the Lantern taproom - one wall is a roll-up door which faces east and so has some nice evening shade. Outside food is welcome, and they have a rotating cast of food trucks, which of course run the gamut in quality. There are also a few decent restaurants within walking distance.
The beers are overall quite good, and have a decisively Belgian slant. They tend to have a good range of styles on tap at any given time, and are a bit less expensive than most local places. While many of the milder beers are not to my taste, they have the best saison I've ever had (Verne), as well as the best trippel I’ve tasted (Palatine).
I have many fond memories of evenings here, and I strongly recommend visiting and supporting...
Read moreLantern Brewing, nestled in the north Seattle neighborhood near Broadview/Greenwood, is a delightful hidden gem. It's an ideal spot for larger groups, offering outdoor seating where both pups and kids are welcome. The food trucks on-site ensure you won't go hungry. Now, let's talk about their beer selection--it's truly one of a kind. With several unique flavors, they're sure to pique your interest. Don't miss the opportunity to sample them! Recently, I tried their cider on tap, and it was a pleasant surprise. Unlike most ciders that tend to be either too tart or too sweet, this one hit the perfect balance. Although they don't brew it themselves, it's still a delightful addition. So, if you're looking for an intriguing beer experience, Lantern Breeding won't disappoint and their staff are always friendly each...
Read moreBaby and dog friendly spot that was very chill on a Friday night (which we liked). As a rare non-IPA fan in the PNW, I appreciated their selection of beers that were not all IPAs! Lots of Belgian and/or abbey style influence, some fruity /tart. Saw families drinking and having dinner with kids, which I loved more of the family scene. Most of my group ordered from the food truck, but there’s also a really yummy Indian Nepali place around the corner so I called in a takeout order there on my way to the brewery and it worked out perfectly to have my food ready...
