Came here on a Friday with a friend to study! We arrived around 4:30pm and all the seats were filled. We managed to nab a table within a few minutes of arrival (thankfully) because someone was just leaving! I didn't order any coffee as it was past my coffee drinking hours but I did order a ham & swiss panini. The associate informed me that it would be about 6 minutes for my panini. However, it took closer to 10-12 minutes... When the panini came, I noticed that one half of the panini was kinda pretty burnt. Fortunately, the other half was perfectly panini'd and the taste was good!
Both my friend and I had a hard time connecting to the WiFi. It took my computer almost an hour to finally connect to their wifi (and yes, I tried turning wifi off and on, restarting my laptop, forgetting the network, etc). This was frustrating for me, and in combination with my half burnt panini I give this place a 2 star.
The environment is very cute - the cafe area is in the back of the bookstore. It feels cozy and home-y. I wouldn't be opposed to giving this place another shot but would try their coffee and maybe just use it as a place to catch up instead of doing work because I don't want to run into WiFi...
Read moreThe food we had was good, the overall customer experience, not so much. The prices for what we ordered ranged from reasonable to you're-kidding-me. TL;DR version: We arrived around 12:30. They were busy, but didn't look slammed. When we were ready to order, we were told to wait, while the two employees behind the counter conferred over a smartphone. We finally got to place our order, paid (panini, $8; large cookie, $3; iced tea, $4!), and were given a number and told our food would be brought to us. Time passed. After 10 - 15 minutes, I went to inquire about the tea. The cookie had been sitting on the counter, but apparently they had run out of tea and somebody had gone next door to get some. We ate the cookie. It was delicious. About 10 minutes later, the panini arrived and I asked again about the tea. The server apologized and said they had to brew some. We ate the panini, slowly. It was pretty good too. After we finished, I went searching for the tea again, and it looked like they had just finished brewing it. Having finished eating, we took it with us. It was OK, but certainly wasn't worth $4. And reviewing the credit card charge later, I discovered that they'd forgotten to...
Read moreGreat place to sit and work/study all day. Baristas are very nice, atmosphere is great, coffee is great.
4 instead of 5 because the Wi-Fi really and truly does not work for many customers. I see other comments mentioning this, with replies from the owner saying that this is because they failed to ‘accept the terms’, and that you might have to go into your device settings to ‘forget’ the network in order to see the terms of use webpage (this is called a ‘captive portal’ fyi). This is simply not the case, folks. Nothing I did (including forgetting the network) made the captive portal page appear. I have been a software engineer for 12 years and today I tried my damndest for about 20 minutes to connect to this network to no avail.
It’s fine for a cafe to not have WiFi, I can always use tethering. I just want the owners here to be aware that this is not merely a problem with folks getting confused and failing to accept the terms on the captive portal, or needing to reset their...
