McMenamins Six Arms — Restaurant in Seattle

Avoid this place if you are looking to satiate immediate hunger.

This was my first meal of the day and second time eating here.

Previous visit I had sliders and Cajun tots with a ruby beer.

I can tell there is someone different in the kitchen because the portion of tots I had with my burger along with the amount of seasoning was significantly less than the first time. That said, I ordered the dungeon burger instead of sliders this time and despite the server asking me how I wanted it (medium), I got a well done burger. I finished half because I was hungry and needed to eat.

Additional to that there was a split hair in my sauce.

I disregarded it because as a gay man my mouth has known hair if you catch my drift.

I won't be back in the future though despite loving the ambiance due to the fact that I can see that turnover is high for management here and it shows in their attention to service and cleanliness. They didn't start clearing tables until they noticed me reviewing.

Definitely NOT worth the price!

PS-- I made mention to the server that my sauce had hair in it and that my burger was well done. He "remedied" it by mentioning in the most haughty/curt tone that my beer was on the house. I told him it was okay because I didn’t feel like contesting anything and just wanted to get home. I left the money and exited.

Been coming here for 10+ years. Mostly for happy hour. Great tots except from when they had to switch vendors for a month during a tots shortage (yep, that was a thing). We’ve seen a lot of staff come and go (unfortunately). We’ve always ordered the cajun tots off the hh menu, but occasionally asked if they can hold the cajun seasoning so we’d get plain tots. We also knew the staff could enter tots and then choose which one (plain or cajun).

So same thing this time, we asked for “plain tots for hh.” The new hire put in plain tots. We asked for the hh price when the bill came. He said he’d speak to the manager and tells us the manager would speak to us. (The manager was also waiting - must be short staffed, but normally we see him on a laptop or side table). We wait for the manager for 10 minutes, he tells us he’ll be with us soon and we watch him come and go. (It definitely was a busy Friday).

He finally gets back to us and tells us plain tots aren’t on the hh menu and he can’t do anything about it.

Honestly, he’s not wrong. But it just wasn’t the same service we’ve always had with the previous wait staff. He also could have had the new hire tell us or tell us when he asked us to wait. At the end of the day, it was just $2 dollars (that we could pay) off our $50 bill. We kept coming through the years bc of the service and tots, tho there are plenty of good tots elsewhere. No reason to come here by...

The Service

Sat down, ordered a beer, looked over menu and ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Server was super friendly.

Got my beer quickly, but after about 40 min and no food, was wondering what was going on.

Just as I was starting to grow antsy, server came back and apoligized because the kitchen had lost my ticket, and offered to comp my burger without any prompting on my part.

The Food

Delicious! Fries were golden, crispy and salty! I ordered my burger medium, and I actually got it medium! So delicious!

Ordered a black n' tan brownie for dessert since I didn't have to pay for my entree. Good brownie, not mind blowing, but definitely good, and comes with a scoop of ice cream. I would recommend garnishing with a mint sprig.

Verdict:

I love this place. The no hassle, non-awkward dealing with my late lunch impressed me. I hate having to ask for the manager or explain why things were less than perfect. The fact that they understood this without me telling them and just took care of it would earn 6/6 stars in my book if that were possible.

Highly professional and great food! Will definitely be coming back!

Edit: they also charged me happy hour prices for my beers even though it wasn't quite happy...
