I went to this restaurant with a group of about 16 friends for a birthday dinner last week. The first thing that came up was the parking situation. There is no free/included parking. The location is on Cap Hill, so this is understandable. Be aware that the lot next to the restaurant charges $14 as an evening parking fee, so getting a ride or walking is recommended . The restaurant itself seemed fairly nice, the decor was classy. In every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, they provide complimentary chips and salsa. This restaurant charged $3.50 for them. The selection on the menu is not great as the options are rather limited. If you just want a typical burrito, don't come here. I had the mole, which was overpriced and mediocre tasting at best. The reason I am giving this restaurant a one star review is what happened when we received our bill. The server brought our group one check with everyone's order on it and gave the bill to the birthday girl. The server then refused to split the bill into the individual orders. They told us we could either charge the total on ONE card or would be able to split the total evenly amongst everyone. Some people had ordered appetizers, drinks and dinner, where others had only bought themselves an appetizer. I'm sure it is probably a bit of a hassle to cancel the original transaction and re-bill each party separately, but they should ask a big group if they will be paying together/separately PRIOR to ringing it all up on one bill. Our birthday girl ended up paying the total bill and each of us are going to have to figure out how to pay her back. The server's unwillingness to do their job put our whole group into a very...

Visiting from out of town and saw the high ratings of this restaurant so decided to try. The food was great but unfortunately we had the worst service from the waitress that had left a bad taste in our mouth and wish we had left before we ordered.

Our waitress had blonde hair and was working last night Feb 18th. When she came to take our order, she came off as super aggressive. My boyfriend had asked if he would be able to substitute beef instead of lamb for a dish but she cut him off saying if you want different meat, there's different menu items that have the meat you want and it's all prepared the same. When that is incorrect...there is a huge difference of you wanted birria vs enchiladas. She was so rude right off the bat, raising her voice and making the customers feels incompetent for reading a menu.

Salsa bar was empty on our side. When we asked she told us to go to the other side to get it and I don't think the salsa was ever refilled on our side when she knew it was empty.

Lastly, when she brought the bill over, we asked for two separate checks. She automatically got aggressive again blaming us and making it feel inconvenient that we even asked. She told us she doesn't remember at all what everyone ordered and that she'd have to come back. Then she started reading out the orders for us to let her know what we ordered and making it feel like such a hassle on her part when really she should have asked us before bringing the bill if we'd want it together or separate. We were ready to leave because this was service was terrible. Being in town for only the weekend , I could have gone somewhere else. She needs a review on customer service in the...

This was one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Seattle. The food was never disappointing. No matter what I tried, it was very delicious. As the for the atmosphere, it was always comforting. However, the service was okay. It's what you expect.

After giving the restuarant a few tries, I stopped going.

The one thing that broke it for me was the tip that was included on the overall bill. The reason why this frustrated me was because the service was like any other service, normal service. I only tip when they make me feel extraordinary or go above and beyond.

The fact that in my last experience I was ignored, and a tip of 15 or 18 percent was included, infuriated me, and then they still leave the "tip" option there. This got me upset. What pushed me to not come back was that there was a fine print on the menu that read something within the lines of, "[Tip for a party of 5+ is included in the overall bill.]" I was a part of two. This prompted me to verbally tell them to remove the tip. Adding a tip to a bill by accident is fine. Mistakes happen. But this was the third time. These practices feel wrong and illegal. This made me think they are leading customers to overpay, without the custome's knowledge. Is this theft, maybe, maybe not? I'm not too sure, but I'm hoping they have...

I visited "La Cocina Oaxaqueña" recently and tried a couple of dishes, the "torta de milanesa" and the "carne asada platillo." The authenticity of the food stood out; it genuinely felt like I was savoring the flavors of Oaxaca. The torta de milanesa had a generous serving of breaded meat, and the carne asada was beautifully presented. However, I couldn't help but notice that both dishes lacked a bit of taste. While they were undoubtedly authentic, they were missing that extra punch of flavor that would have made them exceptional. The service at the restaurant was pleasant, and the ambiance had a cozy, rustic feel that added to the overall experience. The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the comfort of the visit. No free chips!!!! In summary, "La Cocina Oaxaqueña" offers an authentic taste of Oaxacan cuisine, with generous portions and a warm atmosphere. However, a little more seasoning in the dishes could truly elevate the dining experience.

If you haven’t been, you are missing out. If you’re looking for Oaxaca cuisine in Seattle, this is a great place to start. I recommend getting the enchiladas, they are filled with Oaxacan cheese and smothered with mole coloradito. ( if you know, then you know). These are my favorite, you can get them vegetarian or with steak. The tacos de pescado are another favorite of mine. The chips and salsa grant you access to the salsa bar - which is not to be missed. And the camarones al mojo de ajo is delicious,. If you’re feeling something light then go for the avocado tostada or the ceviche de cameron. The margaritas are perfectly made, the mezcal selection is good and decently priced. The service is fantastic. This is a hole in the wall that locals love and tourists often miss.

A great place to sip margs, munch on chips and guacamole, and then to get into a delicious meal. Any questions on the authenticity just walk in the door and look to your left. You’ll see a woman working her Oaxacan magic in the Mexican looking kitchen. I mean, we were sitting around other tables and chatting and everyone loved their meal. And the place was packed. The Wet Burrito is a great starting place. The server described it as complex and a lot of flavors. It was all that with every bite. My friend had the Mole, since Oaxaca is the home of Mole, and it tasted great. The guacamole was excellent. The chips were hot. This is a fantastic restaurant to get familiar with. Add the great service, and you have the makings of an excellent restaurant.
