The food is great. Really delicious and a nice variety of things on the menu. I was super excited for this to open and give those of us working nearby another solid lunch option. And the people working here are always really friendly and helpful, so you'd think this would be a 5-star review.
Unfortunately they're just not capable of handling SLU lunch rush. I showed up today at 12:20pm and was the first person out the front door, so maybe 10 people in front of me in line. I ordered at 12:45pm, thinking I'd get my food by 1 and be back at the office. I didn't get my food until 1:30, and it wasn't correct. I ended up not getting my correct order until about 15 minutes later.
The employees said they were overwhelmed by catering orders in the morning they weren't expecting since the online system let the orders come in before opening, which is a massive failure in their operations but not something I'm going to blame individuals on. I do think it could have been handled better though, either through handing out some kind of coupons/rebates or by doing what they started doing after I ordered, which is warning people food would take about 30-45 minutes before they placed an order.
This one incident is annoying, but it regularly takes 20-30 minutes to get food even when not showing up right at noon, which is a bit too long for this kind of restaurant to be useful at lunch time, especially since it's a fancy deli not a sit down restaurant. Also disappointing is that the last 3 times including today they've messed up my order (which just changes out the bread on a sandwich) every time. Either don't offer the option or please get it right.
I wanted to love this place but would say don't go unless it's at an off-peak time or you're okay waiting an hour for food. And definitely check that the order is right, especially before you leave with your...
Read moreI love Mendocino Farms' location, right in the heart of Amazon’s buildings, making it an ideal lunch spot for Seattle Amazonians and nearby downtowners.
I had often heard about Mendocino Farms but never had the chance to visit until now. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the interior design, decor, and overall atmosphere, both inside and out. Most importantly, the restaurant is impeccably clean and feels quite new.
I also appreciated seeing an "Excellent" food safety rating posted at the entrance, which gave me even more confidence in dining there.
One interesting thing I noticed during my visit was their mission: to WOW customers with unexpected flavors and exceptional friendliness. And yes, they absolutely deliver on that promise. The staff is incredibly friendly, though some seemed new and made a small mistake with my order. However, their kindness and positive attitude still made for an enjoyable dining experience.
Ordering food at Mendocino Farms is quick and easy. The only downside is that the prices are on the higher side for sandwiches. That said, given the current inflation and the prime location in downtown Seattle’s Amazon hub, it makes sense.
We decided to try two of their most popular sandwiches (the "Not So Fried" Chicken and the Peruvian Steak). While they may be a bit pricey, they were absolutely worth it. The flavors were incredible, and we were beyond satisfied. It’s hard to put into words just how good they were, but I highly recommend trying them. I am sure you’ll experience the WOW they promise in their mission.
We also ordered their housemade guava lemonade. Oh my gosh, it was amazing!
One thing to keep in mind is parking. It can be tricky since street...
