TL; DR: godawful food and service. They might have once been great, but are now solidly in the "avoid" category.
First, the staff took about 12 to 15 minutes to make my friend's dirty chai, which is a simple drink to make. There was nobody ahead of us and nobody immediately behind. Given that, we expected a slow kitchen pace. Unfortunately, they ask for the tip at the time of payment (yes, I tipped). We ordered an almond croissant, an eclair, and two sandwiches. The eclair was soggy and tasted like it was day old; the custard was bland, limp, and dense. The almond croissant was sickly sweet on one end, like it had been overly basted but unevenly so.
After 45 minutes without our sandwiches, I finally went up to the counter to ask about the status of our food. They "lost" our order, which happens; I get it. There was a shift change and the new counter attendant was apologetic and offered us a free pastry. Bonus points, but we just wanted our sandwiches.
When our sandwiches arrived ~5 minutes later, my croque monsieur arrived with cold bechamel (not lukewarm, cold, like it had just been taken out of the fridge), one slice of ham, and a smattering of cold, unmelted cheese. This is a grilled or pressed sandwich and my baguette was barely toasted. I don't know if one scant slice of ham is their standard way to make this, but if you are going to be that late with my sandwich, it had better be perfect. This was barely tolerable even though I was seriously hungry. They refunded all of my bill unbidden, which is much to the credit of the lunch shift staff. Unfortunately, that does not make up for the woeful service from the breakfast shift and horrible quality of the food and...
Read moreWe started our day off for my husband's birthday by going to this bakery that popped up on Yelp as a place that I should try out.
We were so a thousand percent impressed and happy that we went here to get his little birthday treats.
The Ambiance of the store is just so warm and inviting. The second you open the door your nose is touched by the sweetness and delicious butter that is looming over all the tasty treats. And the array of colors that are in there due to the different pastries, chocolates, wine, and little items to buy just makes it even more fun to be in there.
The service we received was exceptional. The individual behind the cash register greeted us with a huge smile and asked us if it was our first time in the bakery. We let them know yes and that it had been our first time in Seattle in a while. She gave us recommendations, confirmed our proper pronunciation of Kouign Amann, and meet as few well at home there.
Now we ended up taking home four main pastries to savory to sweet. The two savory pastries were simply amazing. We got the ham style croissant and then the wild mushroom with gruyere cheese. Both were divine. I will say the wild mushroom taste came out so lovely when you've been into it in comparison to the saltiness of the gruyere cheese.
For the sweet pastries again they were amazing and I will say I'm still trying to figure out the hint of something at the end after biting into the Kouign Amann. And the blood orange citruseness paired so well with the feeling that it had. I believe it was cardamom and so so good.
Overall hands down, if you are in the area you need to try...
Read moreI went in Sunday afternoon. Bakery was delicious, macchiato wasn't bad, however, My experience was unpleasant.
I was handed my baked goods right away, but I had to wait an additional 5 minutes for my macchiato, of the six workers there, five of them were working on the baked goods and only one was drinks.
Normally I don't mind waiting, however in that 5 minutes - 5 more people came in line, it became very busy inside, outside everybody eating very closely with no masks. I just wanted to leave asap.
She calls out the woman who is behind me for her drink first before me, which was a little frustrating but I was relieved she called my name next quickly,
When she gave me my drink I noticed there was no lid, I asked her if I could have one and reached for one, it was the wrong size but I just wanted to cover my drink. I really didn't mind.
She offered me the right size lid and pour into a new cup that has a lid for that size, which was nice however, she told me next time "I just should ask."
? Ask for a lid which you should have given me in the first place? Because we are in a pandemic.
Perhaps she didn't like me reaching over the counter to help myself to lid, I just think it was rude to correct me and unnecessary as it doesn't help me get out of the building any faster.
Regret I tipped, and there won't be a next time as that was my first time in there, and The rudeness overshadowed the quality of the of the taste of my cheese Danish which was delicious. Won't be going back.
Inefficiency is to be expected sometimes, but rudeness is avoidable and making customers...
