Skybowl Cafe is a charming sandwich and beverage boutique located in the heart of Queen Anne. Owned by the dynamic duo Gigi and Justin, this delightful spot has quickly captured the hearts of locals. Gigi, a 30-year-old Malaysian immigrant, and her partner Justin have put their passion into creating a space that caters to all dietary preferences.
One of the standout features of Skybowl Cafe is its dedication to dietary diversity, which makes it a popular destination for vegans like my spouse and me. The vegan options on the menu are not only delicious but also innovative, showcasing the culinary creativity of the owners. We were particularly impressed by the avocado toast with balsamic glaze and their new take on the classic PB&J. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they increased their vegan options after we asked if they would consider adding another item to the menu. It’s rare to have such responsive restaurant owners.
As an accessibility and belonging consultant, I couldn't help but notice how accessible the seating is and how easy it is to maneuver the space. The cafe is adorned with no fewer than 18 plants, and the decor is a charming combination of rustic metal finishes that embroider the exposed wooden beams and a refurnished barn door separating the kitchen from the counter. Everything, from the light fixtures to the artwork and the arrangement of the tables, is inviting and warm.
Despite being open for less than a week, Skybowl Cafe is a gem in Queen Anne that deserves all the praise it receives. Skybowl Cafe earns a perfect...
Read moreUpdate: Gigi is the best! She knows my name and always remembers me, which makes every visit feel personal and special. It’s truly inspiring to see her business thrive, she deserves all the success. Every single time, the food, bowls, and smoothies are absolutely delicious and consistent. You can really taste the freshness and care in every bite. This place is a gem, and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived. Highly recommend!
I was thrilled to try this place, and it didn't disappoint, but I do have some feedback:
Coffee: Perhaps it's my coffee snobbery, but I believe in a city where coffee is appreciated, they should master the art of a good cup. ( maybe in the future master the latte art) The milk wasn't frothed properly, with too much air and excessive foam for a latte. Additionally, it was tooooo hot; ideally, coffee milk should be frothed to 140-155°F.
Cocoa Paradise: I ordered the Cocoa Paradise, and it was delicious, but it had a slight acidity. I suggest blending the peanut butter into the mix instead of just placing a scoop on top. Also, since the bowl is cold, the peanut butter tends to harden, making it...
Read moreThis place is so cute and I wish I lived in QA so I could come by more often! I stopped by since I had some work to do and was in the area. Kim was very helpful in recommending what to order which I always appreciate at a new place. I got the vegan sandwich with tempeh and the vegan cream cheese and pesto and the acai bowl with the matcha and mango (Balinese Green I think?) and Gigi offered to drizzle some extra almond butter on top, and both were delicious and very filling, not bad for the price. I stayed for a few hours and they had wifi and outlets near one of the tables. Kim, Gigi, and Justin (the latter two are owners) are all friends and it definitely shows in the warm service here. They remembered my name even after other customers had come and gone. I can't speak to their coffee but they also did have coffee drinks, smoothies, and breakfast bowls. Kim told me this place only opened about 6 months ago but it seems to be doing great being so new. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely make a point to stop by. I appreciated that they asked me if I had any allergies, and that they had a lot of vegetarian, vegan, and...
