I had heard for a bit now that the burgers at this spot were really good and finally had the chance to try them out. There was plenty of street parking nearby and I lucked out with a spot right in front. The place was not busy at all which was nice so seating was quick and easy.
Our party had ordered three items, the beacon burger, the mushroom swiss burger, and the garlic parmesan fries. I honestly think that the star of the show was the beacon burger. The bread was light, the burger patty cooked to a nice medium as requested, and the pork belly was a great touch, lots of flavor here. The mushroom swiss burger was also good but just doesn't stand out to me as much as the beacon burger does. The garlic parmesan fries were not as good as the burgers. They were very greasy and there was about three tablespoons of oil sitting at the bottom of the bowl of fries. In addition I could tell the garlic was the jarred stuff with a strong sour taste from the jarred garlic liquid. I would recommend opting for one of the other options for french fries.
As other reviews had pointed out, the service is not great which unfortunately, is exactly what we also experienced. It just seemed like our server didn't want to deal with us and wanted us to place our order and get out. We hadn't even finished saying what we wanted to order and the server just darted away. I could understand if it was busy with lots of hustle, but the place was empty in the afternoon when we had went, so I had hoped for a slightly better experience. Burgers 5/5, Fries 3/5,...

That being said the IPA's have gotten better and I really like the place and the owners. The baked goods are even delicious and homemade. Just be prepared for a chaotic scene when they are busy.
Old review: The beer is good (4 stars, their IPA's are the weak spot), the food is very good; it's modern and well thought out bar food. My picky non beer drinking wife loves it. Staff is great as well.
Really the only bad thing you can say about it is that they need another bathroom (there's only one all gender), and it gets really busy at the obvious times, so you'll have a wait since it's a relatively small space.
The husband and wife owners are real people, too (a forever co-worker is friends with them), not an investment group, corporation or any other "undesirables".
Worth the drive into Beacon Hill...
Read moreSuppose you are looking for a place where you can enjoy a safe evening with your family/spouse and loved ones, NOT the place for you. The duty manager/staff refused to protect our privacy against two drunk men taking pictures of my family without our permission—staff, instead of removing the intoxicated men from the property, instead they cooperated with them as they suppose frequent customer. I asked for a manager and informed the team in charge that our picture is taken without our permission, and I want you to handle this issue. Yet this woman in charge is encouraging me to talk to them first. No sense of understanding and training how to handle situations like this, and instead of telling me to speak to two intoxicated men over sexual harassment issue, you can imagine men feeling their family in danger; what will do. I had to call the police twice while being patient to handle the situation...
