As a Brown/Black, queer & non-binary person I feel so grateful for The Station. Leona & Luis are so kind and...just beautiful people. Luis often takes the time to chat with me for a couple minutes here and there and I always appreciate it. My go to is their breakfast sandwich with bacon instead of sausage and a caramel latte - light on the caramel. I order from there more than I should but it's all good. Moving on...haha...the whole team there is cool. There are times when I order and we don't really talk... and there are other times where we make small talk which leads much needed and appreciated moments of connection at times. I can just go there, get my coffee and know that I'm not going to be targeted or harassed just for existing as myself, like I have been at some other coffee shops in the city. The cafe recently moved from its small, intimate space on 16th Ave to a larger spot across the street; but it's retained all of its atmosphere, improved its food offerings, and the new espresso machine turns out fantastic coffee. Super-nice staff. Also, dog-friendly! Treats on the counter... Beacon Hill is still "unfashionable" (which we residents like, of course), and the restaurant choices here are pretty minimal compared to many other Seattle locations. But Beacon Hill has the Station, so eat your heart out, other...

But community doesn't always mean a good cup of coffee or food... Luckily there is nothing left to be desired when it comes down to those factors! The coffee is fantastic. The food is spectacular. Their baked goods are all locally sourced. Their menu always hits the spot.
The space is decorated with local art (rotating featured artists) and many plants, which are sold by another vendor. It can get a bit loud inside sometimes, but if it does, I go outside and sit at their outdoor tables, which overlook the (you guessed it) light rail station. It's great for...
