I visited Tacos Chukis on a Wednesday evening. Most of the tables were full but the counter seating was empty. I liked the brightly colored walls and décor as well. The staff were very friendly and very approachable. I ended up getting an order to go. I ordered the adobada (pork) baby burrito, carnitas baby burrito, and house taco. The burritos were pretty small, hence the names, and I scarfed them down pretty quickly. They tasted good and it had a good balance of all the components. The taco was also pretty good. The pineapple flavor stuck out to me the most. When it comes to the pricing, I was surprised with the lower prices and it would definitely return or visit another location for a good balance of price and quality.

If you’ve never been to Tacos Chukis on Beacon Hill — it’s the best of the best. For $2.75-$3.20 you can get a Carnitas a.k.a. pork taco with a chunk of pineapple ($ .50 for the cheese) onions, cilantro, salsa. Holy cow. There’s so much happiness in six and a half dollars worth of food…you have no idea. Every bite is perfection. I could eat this every day. And if it’s after work, you add a can of cold Tecate for $5.

BEST TACOS PERIOD. I’m not joking when I say the pork tacos are the best tacos I’ve ever had and I dare you to try them and not say the same!! The huge tender chunk of pineapple on the bed of tender pork bits with a lime and red hot Sause is just making me wet thinking about it!! Also the bathroom is pretty clean and tidy and that says a lot about a place and they make you ask for the key so keep that in mind!!

For the second time in under a month I've been to this place and enjoyed the food and feel of the service there. I was in the Community Center Square to attend documentary issue-based films at 7 p.m. and this restaurant is immediately across the square from the community center locale. I still have not been able to find out what a Chukis is. The first time I was here I tried the Mexican lager Style Chukis beer and it was delicious. A refreshing change from the more IPA style and Hoppy Mexican beers which seem to be far more popular. I also had and enjoyed the baby burrito a more human sized meal burrito than the giant burritos more popular in other restaurants. And only $4. This evening I had the mulita, which is sort of an open-faced soft taco shell with a taco like filling and another soft taco face on top. Instead of the usual variety of meats or beans I chose the cactus as my extra ingredient. A new ingredient for me and it took a couple of bites before I decided I liked it! Again this was a human-sized quick meal portion with a wallet-sized price of $2.75 if I recall correctly. None of this was fast food they cook it right there and clearly prep it right there and it doesn't come out ASAP, but it does come out in a very reasonable amount of time. An excellent spot in my opinion for a quick meal of quality ingredients prepared on the spot and served with a smile. The cleanliness rating is excellent and I think it is a good spot for a pair of people or a small 4-person group to hook up and have a genuine Mexican meal. I wish they didn't use plastic ware and next time I might bring my spork. Bus...

Disappointing experience at a place I know and love

My buddy and I went to get some food at taco chukis, a place that we both really like. As we go in, there is one other person ahead of us waiting to place the order and there are two people working behind the counter. After a while both the people continue to not acknowledge us and continue to do their work.

More people come in. All waiting for their online orders. Both employees continue to ignore us. More online orders keep coming in, the employees keep making more food and packaging it, handing it to folks with online orders. We didn’t make online orders as I needed it customized and we cannot find those options online. After about 20 minutes of waiting I ask one of the employees to take the order at least so we can wait outside and avoid risking being in a room with multiple people. The employee mumbles something and continues on. 10 more minutes the person in front of us leaves. Another 10 minutes and the employee finally accepts our order. At this point I could’ve driven to, Capitol Hill or SLU picked up the order and would’ve gotten back.

Frustratingly bad experience at a place my friends and I really...

Wow customer service has gone out the window the last few weeks and I won't be back!

Visited Tacos Chukis for lunch on 12/10/2021 and a nice, young lady greeted me and took my order. Tacos were GREAT! The next week stopped by for lunch again and the place was busy. Went up to the counter and a taller gentleman asked me if I was picking up, I replied no and that I would like to place an order. He pointed at a laminated piece of paper on the table that they are ONLY taking online orders at the time. Odd, since it is lunchtime and I didn't have time to then make an online order and wait around for it I left a little irritated. On 12/20 tried to give them the benefit of doubt and returned after 1pm. Place was pretty empty, 3 top at a table and one person in line. I got in line and as soon as I did the taller gentleman from the week before stops cooking, walks around the counter and places the laminated Online Orders Only paper on the ordering tablet. I'm all about supporting local neighborhood businesses but this customer service is unacceptable! I'll go across the street and get a burrito from the Red Apple deli over going back to...
