The dark wood interior feels nice and upscale, but not flashy. Getting welcomed in with the smell of the grilled food from other customers was a great introduction.
The grill and fan style are very reminiscent of the kbbq places you'd find in Korea, and it is great as you won't walk out smelling like smoke and meat.
Banchan selection was good, everything was crisp, fresh, and not presented poorly. Although they never came back to give a refill on anything as they were nowhere to be seen.
The ambience was nice and casual, definitely not crowded and popular compared to other Korean restaurants, and the price tag is a bit on the higher side than most that provide a similar quality with their cut of meats.
The customer service doesn't exist. They were all on their mobile phones in the kitchen and flagging one down is an impossibility unless you catch one serving an entree to another customer.
They will never check up on you, never refill your water unless you walk almost into the kitchen to get their attention.
They will not replace your grill, not that we needed to, as we've done this many times and are able to not create a completely char-covered grill; although it might also speak to how well their marinating technique is. But the patrons two tables behind me were having a bonfire and could have greatly benefited from this part of the service (as it could be a fire hazard).
After handing us the check, I put my card in the cup with the receipt they brought it in. But having not realized at the time that they don't do customer service, my friend and I waited almost half an hour before I decided to head towards their bar/kitchen and see them all on their phones in a circle.
Their attitude was polite and exactly as I expected from a Korean restaurant. But the service itself is exactly at the bare minimum at most, which was seeing them exactly four times
Taking the order Bringing the banchan and one 8oz cup of water Bringing the food Bringing the check (but not taking the check)
As you can see, the above four things, these are all one-way tasks/interactions without any customer input involved. They are gone as soon as they can serve you while you are distracted with the plating.
I only went in with just another friend to treat him out for his birthday, so there was no 20% gratuity fee that others have experienced (on top of the tipping).
But at this price point, there are better options for an overall well-rounded experience. But if you prefer a more private dining experience, perhaps this place would work for you. If it's not busy, you and whomever you are eating with, will feel like the only people in the restaurant, in the almost literal sense...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePros: Good food, great dipping sauces, less common meat options such as large and small intestine Cons: Reservation issues, slow service, forgotten items
As many reviews have pointed out, the service here has a lot of room for improvement. I experienced issues before even getting to the restaurant. I made a reservation for two a couple of days ahead of time to celebrate my birthday. Because of the negative reviews related to service, I decided to call the day of to confirm my reservation. Apparently they hadn't actually taken my information down when I first called. There were able to accommodate me but it's not a good first impression.
After being seated and placing an order for 3 items plus drinks, we waited for over 40 minutes to receive our food and weren't given drinks until we flagged a waitress down and reminded them an additional 10 minutes later. Good thing we weren't very thirsty because refills were never offered. Later in the meal, we asked for two orders of rice. After waiting for a bit, we were only brought one bowl and again had to remind the waitress of our order.
All these delays also take up a lot of the meal time they have allotted for you. Online, they ask you to take no more than 90 minutes, but that can be difficult when over half of it passes by just waiting for food.
So why 4 stars? The food is really good and it's fun to use the grill. I loved trying large intestine for the first time, the bulgogi was flavorful, the pork jowl killer and I could literally eat spoonfuls of the green dipping sauce they provide. If they had even decent service, I would give a glowing 5...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the worst service Iāve ever had in any Asian BBQ places.
They said they can only change the grill pan once, so if you cook a marinated meat, the sauce will keep burning and smoking in front of you.
They had near zero service outside of putting the food to table. We hardly found anyone for more water, etc.
No one was taking away our finished dishes and the table is so small, so that we ended up having to to put the used dishes on the ground for space.
Despite the near zero service, yet they still forced us to pay 20% tip for our party of 6 people, which in a lot of other places we are more than willing to pay even more if the service is good. The service from the place was just extraordinarily horrible, which makes paying 20% extremely uncomfortable for my whole party. The owner declined our request to adjust to lower tip rate. We believe our waiter definitely didnāt deserve this amount. At the end our waiter mentioned that we should appreciate the fact that we got a table without making a reservation, which we felt sounds rude, arrogant, and inappropriate from the customer perspective.
Most importantly, the food was just mediocre at most, and is not as good as most other Asian BBQ places in Seattle. The price was fairly high for its small meat portion size, average meat quality, and average dining atmosphere.
I would not go again, and I definitely would not recommend this...
