Safe Chimney Inc — Local services in Seattle

Safe Chimney is a service I will not use and would not recommend to anyone. The website states that a chimney inspection starts at $69, and a chimney sweep with inspection starts at $99. I understand the “starts at” can have a range. After our inspection we were charged $120, and it would be an additional $3965.12 for cleaning and repairs. This was after a $635.25 discount when we expressed our shock at the cost. They were persistent with calls and texts trying to schedule a time to do the cleaning. We were looking into this service to help family out, as we rent from them. I stated several times that we do not own the property and it had to be approved by the family member before moving forward. I received another phone call today and a text with an invoice to be paid. This was the tipping point where I felt this company needed to have an accurate review. Especially after reading their current reviews. I do not like to speculate, but I do find it odd that they have only 5-star reviews, and all were from 2-3 months ago. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! THEY ARE FRAUDS! We filed a complaint with The Attorney Generals Office, the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Labor and Industries. I’ve asked my credit card company for a refund as I’m disputing the $2,000+ charge. They need to have their license revoked.

Their technician installed the wrong cap on our chimney in October almost causing a flue fire. My entire house filled with smoke. I have to use an abatement service to get rid of the smoke smell in my furniture. This company is taking zero responsibility for their gross negligence. I could’ve lost my home and my family. In a nutshell, everything.

In addition, while doing the work on my chimney, they offered a $59 credit on the over $2,000+ charge. The catch? I would have to post a 5 star review while they were in my house. It felt intimidating, and fraudulent. What reputable business has you post a review before you have determined the value of the service?!

Buyer beware!...

I was considering doing business with Safe Chimney. After a phone conversation with them and basic verification, I am no longer. Website states Chimney Safety Institute of America certification. This appears false. I searched their(CSIA) website and then called. I was told they have no record of them. Secondly, they are not, according to the BBB, allowed to use their symbol, as they are not accredited. Lastly, articles of incorporation (WA sec. Of state) show start of business occurred around Jan 2023, yet a '2019 Angi's list super service' symbol is displayed on their website.
