I came here as part of the ongoing Honkai Star Rail collaboration event. There are two drinks, Kafka's Blushing Blueberry Splendor and Blade's Karmic Chocolate Matcha.
I came here wanting to get Kafka's drink, as she is my favourite character and the drink appealed to me the most. However, when I arrived I saw a note on the door saying they were out of Kafka's drink. They opened at 12 and I came at 2, so it's a little disappointing that they ran out so fast. However, I understand they have limited stock per day, so I get it.
I tried to customize Blade's drink, as I was told by numerous friends that his drink was very chocolate milk forward. However, one of the employees told me that they could not customize the speciality drinks at all, which was disappointing. So I got Blade's drink as is.
When I got the drink, an employee asked me what character I liked the most, as the drinks come with freebies. I let them know mine was Kafka, so they gave me a Kafka redemption card and cup holder. They also gave me 2 stickers, as you get one sticker per drink. However, they gave me 2 of the same stickers. I thought they would at least give variety even when the stickers were random. I guess not.
The kicker is that when I got the drink, the employee told me that I should just give my drink to someone else in the store if I didn't like it that much. It took me aback because I paid for this drink - I'm not just going to give it away, because then I would essentially be paying $7 for a cup holder, a redemption poster, and 2 small stickers. It just really rubbed me the wrong way. Yes, I may not be a fan of the drink combination, but telling me to give away my drink?
The drink itself is pretty bad. I'm not sure why they decided to go with a matcha and chocolate milk combo, because all I taste is chocolate milk. It is way too sweet and there is a reason why Kafka's drink sold out and Blade's drink is still available. It's not the fault of this location specifically, but the company itself for creating this drink. For a summer drink, they should have gone with a fruity drink, or a drink that is more matcha-forward. Maybe a strawberry matcha.
All in all, a pretty disappointing experience. I'm not sure if I would...
Read moreI came to try Sunright tea studio for the first time because of their Maplestory collab! They featured a limited time Yeti’s El Nath coconut frostie and Green Slime’s Ellinia kiwi tea. Sunright does these game collabs every now and then so it’s always interesting to check it out. This location at UW is one of the few Washington locations of this popular California chain.
Food My friend and I wanted to try both Maplestory drinks so we got the Yeti’s El Nath coconut frostie and Green Slime’s Ellinia kiwi tea. I drank the kiwi tea and it was pretty good! The drink was like your typical kiwi fruit drink though and didn’t really have anything special to make it Maplestory centric other than the cup and name. I would come again to try some other drinks here.
Atmosphere The space is very small and really only has standing room. It is not a place where you can come and hang out with your friends. There are 2 kiosks that you order your drink.
Pricing The prices for the drinks at Sunright are average compared to other fruit teas places. The Maplestory drinks were about a dollar more than the average drink at Sunright.
Service Self service ordering so you don’t have to talk to anyone to order your drink. You can customize the ice level, sweetness, and toppings. The drink came out pretty fast.
Other There is a parking garage next to the tea shop but coming in and out of it during traffic times is annoying to do since it’s on a busy one way street. The entrance to Sunright is right across the entrance to...
Read moreI was so excited when I found out Sunright Tea Studio was opening up here in Seattle. My friend told me this was a popular boba spot in CA so I knew it had to be good!
It is conveniently located next to Trader Joe's so parking is accessible but there can be a lot of congestion in the area. I made the drive all the way down from up north just to try it out. There isn't a place to hang out so it's more like an order and take out boba spot which isn't an issue for me anyways. They have self-order kiosks inside which makes ordering a breeze.
I've tried a couple items from the menu since it has opened up and I'm pleasantly surprised that it lived up to my expectations. I absolutely love the blended drinks. There is so much more than just milk tea here! There is smoothies and fruit tea, and plenty of options to choose from for the toppings. Drinks are not too overly sweet and they use authentic ingredients. If you're not sure what to try your first time, pick a drink from the top 6...
