I used to love coming here and I really enjoyed their drinks & service for the longest time. However today I failed to make a purchase within 15 minutes while trying to get some work done and was told that I had to buy something or get out. I asked if I could just buy something later and the employee said "Yeah you can try to 'buy later' than decide you don't want anything and leave" As a black woman I already have to deal with stores & restaurants making me feel like Im a thief trying to steal, I had full on intentions on purchasing but was sad that I was being essentially forced to buy something out of apparent distrust. Regardless of the intention, what customer would have been open and willing to purchase after that experience? I attempted to try to talk to the manager and he had no regard for my feelings despite literally crying. Kept repeating that it was "just business" and that he would have done the same as the employee. I guess $5 matters more to them than making black customers feel safe at their establishment. I left feeling very frustrated and just not cared about as a customer. Its sad because I really liked this place but I can't ever go back without feeling like Im not welcome or appreciated. There was no effort to be seen or validate- just a repeated message "Its...
Read morePlace has no AC and 1 fan that one of the customers had pulled in and spread his legs across. It was stuffy inside and I come from a country where its 90F on a regular summer day. If a store doesn't have AC they should have enough fans to keep it ventilated. It was 74 outside and 84 inside! When I politely asked if they can arrange another fan, I was told that this the only fan they had and if I don't like I can go to another place. I understand you don't have another fan, but leave the decision to stay or go to another place on the customer. I get that working conditions aren't the best, but you don't have to be rude to the customer. This 1 star is for the owner of the place. The staff's rude behavior is a consequence of their working conditions. Renovate your place and fit in atleast...
Read moreOne of my favorite places on the Ave. This shop offers very tasty blends and drinks, and I can always try something new on their expansive menu. I also really like that it's very low energy. The lighting and calm atmosphere makes the location perfect for studying or chatting with friends. It's rarely chaotic in there, which I'm always thankful for.
For recommendations on drinks, something on any of their first three pages will most likely catch your eye. I personally really like the Emperor's Tea (hot) or the Healing Tea (cold). They also always have very delicious specials on the chalkboard. The picture shows an ICED Bird of Paradise. My friend also got a large hot tea, I believe just a...
