Store itself is fine, options are great and normally staff is very kind. Sadly, I went in at 2 PM 07/20/24 and had an awful experience with a particular employee.
My friend and I were waiting for and asked for a fitting room. After I finished trying on my clothes, my friend went in. After she entered, I was approached by a completely different employee than the one who allowed me in the room and was asked abruptly if someone just went in behind me. Confused, I answered yes. She asked right now? I said yes again, and she followed with “What room?” She proceeded to knock aggressively on the fitting room door about four times. My friend answered “it’s busy.” She was answered with another two knocks and “there’s people waiting!” Confused, my friend said “oh okay I’m changing.” Meaning that she was getting her clothes on. The employee followed with “Well can you get something on because there’s a line!” She was acting as if she was going to open the door with the key in her hand.
The employee then apologized to me and my boyfriend who were waiting for her saying “Sorry about that.” For what? We were not the ones being embarrassed, yelled at and told aggressively that we needed to “get clothes on.” This employee completely embarrassed my friend and could’ve quietly, politely and respectfully explained the situation. She caused a scene where it wasn’t necessary.
I calmly explained to the employee in a respectful tone that she approached the situation aggressively, and that she could’ve simply asked her to please wait in the line. Instead of taking any accountability whatsoever, the employee lowered her tone to an almost whisper and stated “I was being nice I was just explaining the situation.” I proceeded to explain that the tone in which she was talking to me NOW was not the tone she used. She then said “well if you’d like you can talk to my manager, I’m offering you a solution.” Not only was this extremely condescending, but how is this a solution? I’m not asking for anything, all I’m asking for is an acknowledgment that it was unnecessary.
In the end, my friend walked out of the fitting room not having tried any clothes on but being able to hear the words we exchanged. She said “You didn’t have to yell at me and you could’ve asked nicely.” Again, this employee completely refused to acknowledge that she was rude, and tried explaining to us that she was kind. Over it, I said “let’s just go since she won’t take any accountability.”
Not once did any of us raise our voice, request special accommodation, or disagree with the employee that my friend should’ve waited in line. I do not want to speak to a manager. What I wanted then was for an apology for my friend OR an acknowledgement that she was rude. Having received nothing from her but excuses and disagreement, I’m writing this to say that what I want now is for her to understand where she went wrong. No matter what you intend, perception is reality. It is never okay to speak to someone like that. At work, outside of work, in customer service or not. Please learn how to be kind, and understand that an acknowledgment...

Read moreIn general, my girlfriend and I have always enjoyed coming here when we visit Seattle because the employees have been friendly and we always seem to find items we like. Today, we were here along with my sister who has never been to this store before. After paying for our items, we were yelled at and disrespected by a staff member who heavily implied we were stealing. Despite our calm demeanor, this employee was condescending right off the bat and gave us no chance to speak or ask questions. She insisted that we have our pictures taken and would be banned from the store. I calmly refused to be photographed, as I intended to leave with the items we paid for, and she chose to get in my face with her phone and yell at me while I stood calmly. Also, I assume this store already has cameras but I wouldn't know because I am not a thief. My girlfriend and I have collectively spent hundreds of dollars at this location and another in the several years we have been shopping at Red Light. The way this employee chose to handle this small misunderstanding, which was to escalate and intimidate, was completely unwarranted and unprofessional, considering that my group was completely cool and collected. I had hoped to introduce my sister to one of my favorite stores, but we were very much let down by...
