Really quite a bad experience. There aren’t a ton of kbbq places in Seattle, but you should certainly avoid this one. Food was bad, service was bad, cleanliness was bad, price was mediocre, and I even felt unsafe eating here.
The food here is pretty low quality, which you might expect from ayce, but even with my lower expectation I was surprised. The meat had clearly been frozen, and was very fatty and chewy. Our grill was broken and didn’t get hot enough, as were 35% of the tables in the restaurant where they weren’t seating people. We steered clear of chicken and even then we were concerned we weren’t getting an even cook on anything.
It was clear that cleaning standards were well below what they should be, with silverware and plates and cardboard boxes strewn about the back of the restaurant, and the cups and grill all looked like they had hardly been cleaned.
Service was incredibly slow (It’s just raw meat right?) and despite having made a reservation for 10 people, we got there and were told that we didn’t and had to wait another 30 minutes. It took periods of about 10-15 minutes for the staff to get things like water, tongs, cups, or napkins for us.
They had some sort of system of pouring water along the edge of the grill, I’m not very familiar with how it’s supposed to work but this seemed like a serious hazard pouring water over boiling hot grease (fire hazard). I saw the waiter do this at another table and a flame shot 5 feet into the air. Each table had a flame retardant spray which made me think this is a regular problem, and it was the first time I’ve felt truly unsafe in a restaurant.
Overall this place clearly lacks management and cleaning and everything about it screams disaster waiting to happen. I feel bad for the waiters who were nice guys but something clearly wasn’t working. Because I was so unimpressed by the cleaning standards and food quality, I ended up eating less and I’m just hoping I...
Read moreI heard a new korean bbq joint opened in seattle that was actually good! My mind was blown as Seattle strangely doesn't have any good legitmate korean food, but hearing feedback that there was finally a good korean joint caught my attention. This place is pretty popular, but I came in at 7:45pm on a weekday and got seated without any issue. I could tell the staff was a little new, as they were frantic/stressing more than normal restaurants, but the service was still excellent. It was a little amusing to see the server literally jogging back and forth the restaurant, but it was a refreshing to see that the employees care!
The food on the other hand was fantastic, at a really good price point. I got the marinated short rib (kalbi) & sliced pork belly combo with the corn cheese & soyabean paste stew and shared it with my friend. It was so much food ,we had to take leftovers home, enough for another small meal for BOTH of us. Keep in mind I have this ability to eat an unusual portion of food so this portion size was no joke, at $40! The meats were marinated well, and the banchan (side dishes) were fantastic. The only caveat i had was that the cheese corn didn't have enough mayo in it. It needed to be a tad creamier/sweeter and the lack of mayo had the cheese hardening up later, but outside of that, the meal was fanastic. I'd definitely come back and I plan on bringing all my friends...
Read moreGood Korean food with huge portions. We ordered a small beef combo, a small pork combo, a seafood pancake and a stone bibimbap. When the food comes over we were overwhelmed as we did not expect four additional rice that served together. Wish they could have warned us about the portion, as I had no idea their small was actually medium in many other restaurants.
I tried that bean paste soup, and it was good. Nothing fancy but the right taste. Their seafood pancake was average, could have more fillings inside rather than flours. The corn with cheese was really good, having melted cheese over those sweet corns gives so much flavour! The steamed egg was good, nothing special. The meats were fresh. I like their marinated beef and the pork belly the most. I ate a lot of them with guilt and happiness. I figured that the beef went well with the sweet sauce while the pork went well with their spicy sauce. I also enjoyed their marinated potatoes in the side dish. The sweetness level is just right!
We asked for a change of the grill pan once. Would rank the overall service is average due to them having limited staff to serve a lot of tables. Overall a solid 4 star, especially consider...
